Religious Education
When you enrol your son at TSS Preparatory School you are becoming part of a
unique educational experience – one which provides your child with a strong
spiritual foundation for life, along with academic excellence. Whilst enrolment
is open to boys of all religious backgrounds, or none, the school values highly
its primary aim of educating the whole boy. It is therefore expected that those
who choose to attend this school will share fully in the religious programme
that is offered.
Boys at Prep are carefully guided as they confront many of the issues facing
young people today. In class, through the study of the Bible and its relevance,
through the investigation of other religious traditions, through discussion of
the moral and ethical issues that we face, boys are encouraged to develop a
‘spiritual character’ that will aid them as they grow and mature. It is this
character, we believe, that will enable our boys to make appropriate choices for
themselves and for others in the future.
Chapel Life at Prep
Prep boys and their teachers attend a weekly chapel service appropriate to the
boys age and stage of development. At these times of worship, the ‘Virtue’ of
the week is introduced and ways of living the virtue are espoused. Through drama
and song, puppets and story, we worship God, have some fun and learn a little
more about living a fully human existence.
From time to time, special chapel services are conducted in St Alban’s Chapel,
or at other locations around the school. These services are specifically
designed for particular year groups, House groups, institution of School
Officials, or the like. Members of the Prep community are expected to support
and attend these very important services.
