Year 7 Transition Program
The important Primary foundation years have been designed to give the boys a
strong sense of their potential. Sound instruction in basics through Years R to
6 is coupled to a series of rotations involved in our unique Year 7 programme.
Senior Prep boys experience the wide variety of offerings available in our
Senior School by dividing their academic time between our two campuses. Whilst
fulfilling their important leadership functions within Prep, Year 7 boys are
able to retain that sense of belonging which accompanies the ‘Primary Class
Teacher’ concept, yet enjoy the experiential breadth offered by an enormous
array of facilities and teaching specialities. Subjects such as Science, Drama,
and Media Studies are taught within specially designed teaching environments
utilising the specialist expertise of secondary teaching staff.
The Year level operates from ‘Home’ bases on both sides of Ferry Road. It is
very much a transition year, successfully removing those perceived obstacles
from the Year 7-8 pathway.
From 2013...
In 2013 Year 7 will be permanently on the Senior Campus in a purpose built
Transition Centre incorporating all that this special year needs. To minimise
the adjustment from Junior to Senior years, the transition program will cater to
the needs of students, while teaching them how to explore and discover answers
on their own.
