Meet the Delpratt Staff

Mr. Karel Bos - Housemaster

It is a privilege to be given the opportunity to be involved at The Southport School and Delpratt House. My wife, Alexis our daughter Lucia and son, Augustine are also residing in the house and we are looking forward to many years in Boarding Life. Having our second child in early 2012 means family life is very important to us and we both look forward to sharing this new phase of our lives with the Delpratt community.

I have cherished the opportunity to be involved in a team environment that promotes camaraderie and self-growth. I relish competition and through my competitive nature I have been able to immerse myself in House culture and activities. I have gained this from many years playing and coaching various sports. I continue to encourage all boarders to take up an active lifestyle within the school whilst balancing and maintaining a consistent routine for study and assessment.

In my time in the house I have witnessed boys who are genuine, helpful, compassionate and have a strong sense of loyalty to the Delpratt family. We feel like honourary members of this family and have shared some beautiful moments at BBQs, birthdays and morning teas in Matrons.

It is a privilege to work alongside Ken Connors and his family. Their example encourages all in the house to aspire to very high standards of pastoral care and spirit. Please know our family's door is always open to both boarders and parents and I look forward to sharing more wonderful moments in The Delpratt House.

Mr Ken Connors - Assistant Housemaster

Myself and my wife Simone feel excited and very fortunate to be given the opportunity to be involved in the mentoring and nurturing of the young men of Delpratt house. Respect, patience and enthusiasm coupled with an unmatched camaraderie, are attributes that I have observed being demonstrated by the Delpratt boys since beginning employment at TSS. These are qualities that I intend to see continued and instilled in the boys for years to come.

After completing a four year traineeship as a structural Draftsman, I completed 6 years in the Royal Australian Navy which involved a tour to Iraq in 2006. From there I became an instructor, living alongside new recruits and was responsible for the education, training and general wellbeing of future sailors. This experience taught me the importance of social and emotional wellbeing, its effects on the individual and their academic performance. I therefore intend to make this one of my main priorities, which I believe is essential to creating a supportive home away from home that the boys require to be successful in all facets of school life.

My wife Simone was also in the Navy and completed nine years military service. She is currently half way through a nursing degree and looking after our two young boys Zane and Sonny. Zane is four and a half and Sonny is eight months old and we feel honoured to be able to bring the boys up in the TSS boarding community.

Karel and Alexis are very warm and welcoming and the impeccable example they set in pastoral care is something we intend to replicate. Our door is always open to parents and boarders and we look forward to developing a strong relationship with you and your son.
