TSS BASKETBALL - 1st X GPS PREMIERS 2012

As we start the 2012 year at TSS there are some very interesting and exciting changes occurring.
First, our floor in the Centenary Centre has had a total make over and how impressive does it look.
This came about from the need to include the “new” F.I.B.A. lines on our Basketball court.
The major changes are,
*A new and wider keyway around the basket.
* A “no charge” circle underneath the basket to allow referees to determine more accurately the charge/block rule in this area.
*A new 3pt line has been incorporated moving the distance from 6.25mtrs to now 6.75 mtrs from the basket.
*The “old “ 3pt. line will be retained to allow for junior players under 14 and below to be able to manage a 3pt attempt without compromising their shot action.
We also now have in GPS competition for the first time both Basketball and Rugby playing in 3rd term.
Many discussions have taken place before formulating a plan for this to happen, in particular how our home game days will operate.
These home games will give us an opportunity to showcase the exceptional skills of our boys in both sports to what we expect to be bumper crowds attending.
Last year we had record numbers of teams/players representing TSS Basketball and all our teams were very competitive – this year we expect to improve even more.
