The Southport School

Elite & Developmental Golf  Program 2013

The objective is to continue developing the golf team to a competitive intercollegiate level and to represent our school well in skill and character.  We will choose a 10 player team which will be made up of an A & B player squad.  In addition, we will be creating a developmental program for students who would like to improve their skills.

PGA Pro Grant Garrison will coach the team this year’s team; he will also be preparing and escorting the team to this year’s tournaments and leading all training sessions. For a Profile on our new Head Coach - Grant Garrison

The 10 player squad will meet on Wednesday from 3:30-5.30pm with sessions being held at our new River Range on the TSS campus and various other locations, please see schedule.

We will again be playing in 4 tournaments which our practice schedule is built around with 1 event scheduled each term.

The emphasis this year will be on improving technically, physically, and mentally.  The consistent cycle of learning, preparing and performing will be the theme of this year’s program.  Students will experience goal creation, problem solving, and building confidence through a process that can be applied to every aspect of life.

Each player will receive a one hour private lesson with the coach at Palm Meadows driving range including club fitting and video swing analysis.  Each player will also receive a TPI physical screening and personalized speed and strength plan including a membership to the TPI portal.  Both sessions must be scheduled privately with the coach.

Our practice sessions will include team classroom sessions in personal development and life lessons learned through the game of golf.  We will be placing emphasis on becoming tournament strong and confident in the character traits associated with the game.

In addition, we will be offering a 3 Day Golf Camp during the holiday break.  Camps will include morning practice, lessons, lunch, prizes, and transportation to local championship courses for an 18-hole competition.
