TSS Rowing Community

TSS Rowing gives 180 young men an opportunity to start rowing, competing in the GPS Rowing Competition. From Term 4 in Year 7 TSS Students can sign on to rowing and begin training with all competitions being held in Term 1 the following year. Rowing in the QLD GPS means our rowers compete in Quads (four people plus a coxswain) during Years 7, 8, 9 & 10. Then moving into Eights (eight people plus a coxswain) for Years 11 & 12. With the season being split up by the Christmas Holiday period we have camps at the end of Term 4 and the beginning of Term 1 either here at school or away. These camps, in particular the January Camp, are used to select crews for the beginning of Term 1 and the GPS Racing Season. TSS rowers attends the National Championships annually where in 2016 the school won six medals across six events – the best secondary school performance in the country. Through this experience a number of boys are approached or explore an opportunity to attend colleges in the US. We currently have ex – TSS Students at both Harvard & Brown Universities.
