TSS BEATEN BY BBC/ FINISH 4th IN GPS PREMIERSHIP
After vying all season long to win the GPS Premiership our Open 1st
IV ,consisting of Joseph Gersbach, Ben Dolan ,Alec McKenzie and Caleb Brown fell
at the last two hurdles ,losing last week to BGS and this week to BBC 2 matches
to 6 to finish 4th in the 2013 GPS Premiership.
Likewise our Open 2nd IV ,consisting of Ishvar Nedunchezhian ,Tim
Peterson ,Harry Begg and Freddie Goodrich suffered the identical fate as our
1sts.
Congratulations and many thanks go to Joe, Alec and Caleb from the 1sts and
Harry and Freddie, all Year 12 students ,for their efforts and contributions
towards our school and the tennis program.
Fittingly,they all went out winners ,all winning a match in their final
appearances for TSS. We wish them every success in all their future endeavours.
Across the board BBC were too strong for TSS in all Year groups.
Our Open 3rd IV ,salvaging some dented TSS pride ,won the only match
of the day with both Oscar Richardson and Jared Harkin starring.Both not only
winning their singles matches but also both of their doubles matches.
In our Year 11 teams Joshua Moy, Martin Young, Nikola Mitic, James Bricknall,
Elliot Hinkesmann and Thibault Varnier put in competitive performances against
strong opposition.
In the Year 10 teams Charles Dalton and Sam Scott lost a close match in
their doubles 4/6 for the B’s , while Ta-Tien Yang won his singles 6/2 in windy
conditions.In the D’s Harry Oates also lost a close match 4/6.
In the Year 9 teams Regan Smith and Ben Paxton-Hall both lost narrow matches in
the A’s 5/7 & 6/7 respectively.For the B’s Ryan Shim and Daniel Flynn and the
C’s Percy Gee and Jake Dight lost close matches ,each going down 5/7.Playing in
the D’s Harry Oates lost 4/6.
In the Year 8 teams Komeo Jo playing in the A’s showed great fighting spirit
losing 3/6.For the B’s Charlie Boardman fought hard to lose 3/6 while Jack
McLean and Ijaz Jackson-Fredrickson lost narrowly in the final match 6/7 (6/8 in
the T-B ).For the C’s Andrew Tauber was the only multiple winner ,taking out his
singles 6/3 ,then pairing with Jake Jones winning 6/3 .

CONGRATULATIONS
JOE
Sincere congratulations go to Joseph Gersbach , TSS Tennis Captain and No.1 1st
IV GPS player on fulfilling a personal dream of being selected in the Australian
Schoolboys Team.
After gaining selection firstly through the Hinterland , then South Coast and
then the State selection tournaments Joseph was selected in the Queensland
“Pizzey Cup “ Secondary Schoolboys Team.
Joseph then represented Queensland in the National Titles which were held last
week in Adelaide, where the Queensland Team gained the Bronze Medal in the Teams
Event.
Because of his excellent performances during both the Team and Individual Events
Joseph was rewarded with the honour of being one of two Queenslanders and one of
ten Australian Schoolboys to be selected to represent Australia later this year
in Europe in the Australian Schoolboy Team.
CONGRATULATIONS TO WILLIAM
Congratulations to William Timmony in being part
of the winning Oakley Inter-Academy Team Challenge team to win the State Title
at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Brisbane over the weekend. Sixteen teams
comprising the best 12/ under players from throughout Queensland contested this
high quality event.

All year
group divisions will be playing internal challenge matches this weekend. Please

The TSS Tennis Department welcomes back to school the entire TSS community,
wishing everyone a happy, healthy and successful 2013. Building on the momentum
of an exciting summer of tennis and a wonderful Australian Open, especially the
successes had by TSS old boys Bernard Tomic and Ben Mitchell, the TSS Tennis
Department aims to further develop our coaching, playing, training and
competitive programs at both the Prep and Senior Schools.

Australia Coaches) a fun-filled educational and fitness based experience and
restricted class size numbers, coaching positions at both the Prep and Senior
Schools are filling fast.

YOUR EVERY TENNIS NEED SERVED
Our TSS Tennis Pro Shop provides a professional and courteous service offering a
wide range of both adult and junior racquets, re-grips and quality 24-hour
turnaround restringing.
DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS
A multitude of programs are on offer for players, boys and girls,
adults and juniors for all playing standards at both the Prep and Senior
Schools.
SENIOR & PREP SCHOOL PROGRAMS
At the PREP SCHOOL on
offer are the following programs:-

Tennis Sports Skills – in
school hour’s health, physical education and tennis tuition for years 4, 5 and
6.
·
After School Coaching –
Tennis Australia MLC Hot Shots Program. Development of hand-eye coordination,
spatial awareness, movement and motor skills through the use of graduated balls
(Red/Orange/Green), racquets and court sizes.
·
Private Lessons – one on
one classes made by appointment for accelerated learning and special needs.
·
Junior Development Program
– 6:30am – 8:30am Monday and Wednesday’s and is open to students from years 3 to
5 only. This program is a pathway for future CIC (Inter School Representative
Teams), tournament players and inclusion in the TPP squad.
·
Tennis Professionals
Program (TPP) – Talent I.D. and development program for CIC participants and
tournament players. Squad 6:30am – 8:30am Tuesday and Thursday’s, Friday 6:30am
– 8.00am Match Play at the Senior Campus.
·
Adult Clinics – 9:00am –
10:30am weekdays. Group coaching for graduated standards. Form your own group or
join in one of our classes. Meet new friends, have fun and improve your fitness
and tennis levels.

CIC Season – Runs in Term 3
for years 5,6 and 7 inter school competition.
·
Tennis Australia Cardio
Tennis – Group classes focusing on fun and fitness.
At the SENIOR SCHOOL on offer are
the following programs:-

After School Coaching –
graduated developmental programs for players (boys & girls) of all standards
ranging from beginner/low intermediate to advanced tournament levels.
·
Private Lessons – one on
one classes made by appointment for accelerated learning and special needs.

Tennis Professionals
Program (TPP) – Maintaining the TSS school philosophy that academic and career
path excellence is of the highest priority. We offer in school hours as well as
before and after specialised classes for selected students. Not only are
students offered elite level training opportunities to develop their technical,
tactical, physical and psychological skills. But importantly career path
opportunities, particularly for year 11 and 12 students are developed. We also
assist students in their post-graduation years by assisting in the acquisition
of tennis scholarships to USA Universities and Colleges.

Wednesday Night Adult
Competition – 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We don’t play for sheep stations but we do offer
competitive play for players of all standards. Meet new friends, have fun, get
fit and find out where your game needs improving.

Friday Night Family Match
Play and Social Evening - 6:00pm - 8:00pm. Open to all students and their
families.
·
Tennis Australia Cardio
Tennis – Group classes focusing on fun and fitness.
·
GPS Tennis – Greater Public
School inter school competition. Runs in term 2 and is open to all senior school
students.
·
TSS Tournament Squads –
Players receive the personal and professional assistance of our TA qualified
coaches with transport, pre match warm-up routines, match analysis and
strategies, hydration, nutrition, psychology and post-match debriefing and
cool-down
routines.
JOIN IN AND SUPPORT YOUR SCHOOL TENNIS PROGRAM
It is to be noted that ALL revenues generated by the above mentioned programs at
both the Prep and Senior Schools,as well as through sales from the TSS Tennis
Pro Shop go DIRECTLY back into the TSS Tennis Program assisting in both player
development and programs.
