TEXTBOOKS

At the beginning of each year, boys are issued with subject textbooks

It is the responsibility of the individual boy to ensure that the text borrowed at the beginning of the year is the same one returned at the end of the year.

In order to facilitate this,  boys are to write the copy number of the textbook they borrow in the table in their School Record Book and write their name on the inside cover of texts to avoid texts being misappropriated.

Obligations of boys in regards to the use of textbooks at TSS
The School provides boys with set textbooks. These texts are ordered by heads of department and are stored and distributed through the Library. The cost of these items is incorporated in the school fees.

Boys should be aware that when borrowing these items they are to ensure:

  • That all items are returned to the library by the due date and in the condition that they are originally lent. Failure to do so will incur the replacement cost of the item being added to the boy’s school account
  • Boys should check all books when first borrowed and immediately return any that are damaged
  • That the item returned is the same one borrowed. All textbooks have an individual number that is located on the spine of each book.
  • That the number of the textbook is written in the table provided in the student record book
  • That the boy’s name is written inside the front cover of each textbook borrowed
  • That boys check the overdue book list sent weekly to pastoral care teachers for any overdue items.
  • That under no circumstances are boys to ask other boys to return textbooks on their behalf

Failure to do any of the above could mean that any non-returned item will be assumed lost and charged accordingly. When a ‘lost’ item is returned, a credit is issued to the boy's school account.
