Information on the H1N1 Human Swine Flu

Dear Parents,

Many parents are no doubt concerned about H1N1 Human Swine Influenza and their sons’ well being.  I have been in contact with Queensland Health to ensure we are following correct procedures here at TSS. Following is a web site with the latest information on H1N1 Influenza for parents and carers that may help with any decisions you make regarding your son’s best interests.

In keeping with advice, we have requested parents to keep any boys exhibiting flu symptoms (Seasonal influenza or suspected H1N1) at home for at least 7 days or until cleared by their medical practitioner. Staff have been asked to send to Student Services (Senior School) or the Main Office (Prep School) any boys in their classes who are unwell. In such an instance, day boys will have their parents contacted and requested to come to school to collect their sons. Boarders will be assessed at the Health Centre by the nursing staff and school doctor to determine the best course of action.

Any concerns or queries regarding the TSS response to H1N1 human Swine Influenza can be directed to me at alan.parsons@tss.qld.edu.au
