History of Biddle House

About Biddle House

Biddle House is one of five boarding houses at The Southport School. Established in 1988 the house consists of 65 boys under the care of John Wallace, the Housemaster since 2002. The house is built in and around the oldest building on the school's campus with its central courtyard and attractive views. The house provides an exceptional environment for learning, recreation and relaxing after a long day at school. From a student's point of view Biddle House is the greatest house in the school. It has incredible house spirit and a great family atmosphere. Residents are able to communicate with each other and the masters readily. Generally the house provides an environment that the boys feel is a second home and  whatever time is spent is enjoyable and memorable. For twenty years the members of Biddle House have proudly flown the House Colours of red, green and gold at every house event, with the students competing to the best of their abilities. Winning most House Events in 1998 and 2000 Biddle won the House Shield.

Life In Biddle

Life in Biddle is a life worth experiencing. Living in Biddle House is unlike living in any other boarding community in Australia. The tight knit community often comes together as one, to support one another in troubled times. The house spirit, cooperation and generosity wafts through the wooden structure of Biddle, like blood through a young warrior's veins. Very rarely is there anyone who is homesick. You are too occupied with the duties for the house and the school, to even have time to look back. The excitement and enjoyment that you are constantly experiencing leaves little room for homesickness. Even if homesickness is experienced, the comfort and reassurance from your fellow Biddle members often quickly erases any uncertainty.
