Thorold House Seniors 2007
House Captains Report
The start of 2007 has been an exciting and thrilling one. With a few
new faces welcomed to the house, the Thorold community is growing stronger.
This year saw boys from Hong Kong, Moree… All the boys have settled
in and await the opportunities the future holds. Thorold house last
year saw the departure of its long serving staff Richard Dobernov, Mr
Ward, Mrs Mackie. On the other hand the new positions in the house this
year are Mr Ian Jones (House master) Mr Matt Taylor (Assistant Housemaster),
Vitoria Bautava (Resident master) and Ben Dowell (Resident master).
With house swimming first of the inter house competition. Thorold finished
with a 4th place. Congratulations to the whole house especially the
‘the home grown’ all age relay, who reeled in a glorious victory for
the house. The boys have all ready started training for soccer, touch
and the house plays, where we are hoping to achieve bigger and better
things in the coming events. Best of luck to all competing for Thorold
House this year, let us all make every post a winner.
Thorold has seen many in superb individual performance on and off the
field during the term. These activities include, swimming, cricket,
rowing, debating, rugby and academically. Special congratulations must
be made to Tim Skinner making the 1st VIII rowing team, Simon Morahan,
Xavier Crawford, Marlin Crawford, Luke Morahan and Brodie Cunningham
in the G.P.S swim and to Kegan Calderwood, Brodie Cunningham, Steven
Rydon and Jack Parfitt as they are on the academic deans list .
Thorold has seen an excellent start to the year with many boys competing
in debating, swimming, cricket, rugby, and rowing and achieving academically.
There is a great contingent of boys in the house who all possess a pleasant
spirit around the house. All the members have settled in and one can’t
wait for the challenges the rest of the year.
