Welcome to 2008
The Parents & Friends Association Inc. welcomes you to The Southport School in 2008. For those of you who are continuing your association with the School, and for new parents joining us this year, we invite you to take an active role in the P&F.
The P&F Committee, elected at the AGM to be held on March 18th, 2008, operates The Store and organizes social functions throughout the year.
All functions encompass Reception, Preparatory and Senior School parents.
Our General Meetings will be held on June 3rd and September 2nd in the Memorial Room, Senior School with discussion focusing on P&F Activities and future plans and reports from our Sub committees. Members of these Sub committees are called “Friends of”….Basketball, Cricket, Gymnastics, Outdoor Education, Music, Prep, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Soccer/Football, Swimming and Tennis… and they assist with the many activities and sports our sons undertake. The Boarder Parents Support Group is also very active within the School as well.
Your input is welcomed at these meetings and a light supper is provided afterwards.

P&F PRESIDENTS REPORT
2007 has been a busy year to date for the P&F. The Committee are proud to announce funding for several key projects.
Air-conditioning the Chapel is long over due, we have all suffered those hot days and nights wanting the service to finish as soon as possible. Good news for the Boys and indeed Parents is that the P&F will entirely fund the air-conditioning that is to be installed over the September break ready for the summer season. Father Gadd, hopefully, will still keep the services short !
The Prep oval has always lacked proper change and toilet facilities, for both Boys and Parents. Over the past months the P&F has had plans prepared by Burling Brown for the construction of such a facility. The "PREP SHED" will house toilets for the boys and also a separate male and female adult toilet. It incorporates full change room areas including showers, first aid room and a proper tuck shop. A wide veranda area with a full length bench will allow boys to leave their bags under cover during training or shelter from rain. This project will come at a considerable cost and help is sought from parents If you can help with building material or labour skills please contact me so when the final tender is put in place your kind offer can be precluded.
This year over $80,000 has been approved from P&F funds towards our many "Friends of Groups" This money will go towards projects such as large screen TV's in all boarding houses, 2 new sailing boats, new musical instruments and a tennis ball machine to name but a few. All funding and projects come from our main source of income which is The Store. Profits from The Store go back into the school in hope of creating a better School for our Boys and the generations to come.
The P&F focus is to continue to support our great School for the boys of today and those who will follow.
