How to Join
• A person must be the following minimum age to begin the relevant Award. Bronze: 14 years; Silver: 15 years; Gold: 16 years. You may join at Bronze, Silver or Gold level.
• Younger people between the ages of 12 and 14 years may participate in the Bridge Award levels.
See Mr. Humbley for information, application forms and award guidelines.
• After filling in the appropriate forms and paying the small fee, your record book is sent to Mr. Humbley, who will give it to you. (You cannot use any activities or camps undertaken before you officially register, so the earlier you register the better.)
• You submit to Mr. Humbley your plan of how you intend to complete each section of your Award (Service; Skills; Physical Recreation and Expedition) and then begin.
• You organise an adult assessor for each section of the Award, eg. teachers, coaches. Mr. Humbley co-ordinates the Expedition section and also advises if your chosen assessor is acceptable to the Award Scheme. (Do this before you begin, so you don’t find out too late someone is not acceptable.)
• You may use co-curricular activities offered by the school, eg. cadets, sports, music, debating, expeditions, services, etc.
• You may NOT use activities offered during classroom time, eg. woodwork, computer skills, media.
• When you have completed each section successfully, return your book to Mr. Humbley for checking and he will send it to the Award Scheme office for approval.
• Once your work is approved, the Award is sent to Mr. Humbley for presentation to be arranged. If your work is not approved, we work together to improve it.
