The Southport School 1st XI Cricket  - Australia Post State Cup CHAMPIONS 2009

Last Round vs TGS Friday 26th March

Please note that the last Round of Cricket (Rd 9) TSS vs TGS will be played on (Student Free Day) Friday 26th March. By agreement with TGS we will be contesting games for Yr 8A, 9A, 10A, 11A, 2nd XI & 1st XI with ALL Games at Toowoomba. The bus for all teams (except 1st XI) will depart TSS 6:30am (Fri 26th) with play from 10am to 3pm with the Bus returning to TSS around 5-5:30pm. Boarders/ Parents can arrange for players to be picked up from TGS should they wish. Please advise DOC Steven Baker (steven.baker@tss.qld.edu.au) if this is the case or if unavailable for selection.

STOP PRESS: Presentation Night

Due to the timing of holidays this year and availability of parents/ players/ coaches…the TSS Cricket Presentation has been moved from the planned ‘Brunch’ originally planned on Sat 27th of March. The presentation evening is now planned for Friday 16th of April 7-10pm at TSS. More details will be forward asap.

TSS Cricket Round 7 vs Brisbane Boys College 2010

This has been a successful round of cricket by TSS vs BBC. We enjoyed emphatic wins by our 1st XI, 2nd XI, 4th XI and 9A’s.

Special mention goes to Billy Stanlake in securing a rare 7 wicket haul including a hatrick of the first 3 batters for 1st XI. Billy’s bowling was backed by excellent fielding and bowling which allowed TSS to reduce BBC to 55 runs all out. TSS then chased this total down in 19 of the allotted 60 overs to secure a timely double bonus point win. This victory puts TSS 1st XI on top of the GPS premiership ladder with two tough rounds to go. The 9A’s fought out a tough win to also remain in contention for a premiership.

Across all teams there was some good individual contributions and special mention also goes to:

•       George Hain 65, Sam Rasmussen 53 in the 9A’s victory

•       Sean Cox 59 and 3/44 in 3rd XI

•       M Ashford 83 & 3-37, M Hunn 50no in a strong 4th XI win

We now look forward to playing Brisbane Grammar in round 8 next Saturday.

*Yr 11B BBC 0-59 defeated TSS 59 all out

*Yr 10A BBC 9/181 (M Graham 3/22) defeated TSS 98 all out (J Oates 23)
