Swimming is your playground for life! TSS Aquatic was formed in July 2003 as part of the development of the swimming program at The Southport School. The Director of Swimming Jason Cooper and an eager group of parents "launched" the club on the 23rd of August at the schools Hall of Fame. Amongst the supporters were Olympians Andrew Baildon ( TSS old boy), Darren Lange and Julie McDonald. The club is open to both BOYS and GIRLS from within and external to The Southport School community. In its first season the club competed at state and national levels successfully, finishing in the top 20 in QLD. Season 2004 - 2005 saw an improvement in strength as the club managed to secure 11th at the State Championships. Since this time the club has placed in the top 12 clubs in QLD at every State Championships and recently finished 10th in 2007. The club is now in the top 40 at a National age level. The club has also had a positive impact on the GPS program within the school. Since the formation of the club TSS has won the GPS title three times. In 2004, for the second time ever TSS secured the GPS Cup, the first occasion being way back in 1922!. 2005 saw the boys successfully defend this title and again win in 2007 after a 1 point loss in 2006. The prep school program also has moved forward with the junior boys winning their division in the CIC competition in 2005. TSS Aquatic is a non-profit Incorporated association operated by committee of management and members. An affiliated member of the Gold Coast Regional Swimming Association (GCRSA), Swimming Queensland (SQ) and Swimming Australia. TSS Aquatic is a young vibrant club that looks eagerly towards making further inroads in the coming seasons.
