The 31st Annual Gold Coast Science Competition aims to raise the profile of science in our community and encourages students to demonstrate their scientific abilities by entering a project into one of six categories. The competition is the largest of its type in Queensland and has been established for 30 years. The competition is fierce with nearly 500 entries received in 2017.
It gives me great pleasure to acknowledge the hard work students across grades Prep – Year 5 did this Semester while investigating their topic of interest for this competition. This type of long term scientific investigation requires outstanding research skills, excellent questioning, and sheer grit and determination to complete it.
Credit goes to the following students who submitted entries Eden Purza-Page, Jude Purza-Page, Hudson Sheehan, Kyle Grassick, Max Wichaidith, William McDougall, Cayden Brown. Their entries where of high quality.
Of these students, Cayden Brown came 3rd in his division – Communicating Science. This Year 5 – 6 Division was highly competitive with 60+ entries across the gold coast. Max Wichaidith also entered and received a Highly Commended for his Engineering and Technology division.
We congratulate these students for all their hard work and effort and for proudly representing TSS Prep. look forward to many more students entering this competition next year.
