2017 National Child Protection Week and eSmart Week

Ironically National Child Protection Week and eSmart Week fall on the same dates in 2017. This week, September 4 to 8, is designed to raise awareness of these two extremely important areas of our boys lives. Our major TSS initiative to make TSS the safest it has ever been is our ‘Who is on your team?’ poster. This encourages boys to have a team of people they can talk to at any time about any topic affecting their safety and wellbeing.

The latest research released regarding cyberbullying says that it begins about age 8 and peaks between 10-15 years old so essentially cyberbullying is almost a whole school issue that needs to be addressed in every school. Judi Fallon from the Allanah and Madeline Foundation quoted an alarming statistic recently that a student with a history of being cyberbullied at school can be three years behind academically at the end of Year 12. Sustainable change is essential. I thought it would be appropriate to combine both Child Protection and Cyber Safety in the newsletter this week and provide you with our top 10 cyber safety tips to protect our boys.
