Our students consistently achieve high academic results ensuring entry to many commendable universities and tertiary pathways both in Australia (Group of 8) and abroad.

An increasing number of TSS students are now attending universities and colleges internationally, in particular the United States and the United Kingdom.

We encourage our students to seek opportunities far afield and support their quest as they pursue prestigious institutions.

The Southport School is an accredited international test centre in Australia for the US College Board SAT and PSAT Admissions Test and has proven to be an invaluable asset to the School and the boys’ awareness of external prospects.

International and national universities and colleges regularly visit The Southport School and work with our boys to scaffold their pathways.

Taking the PSAT/NMSQT test in October automatically screens for the National Merit Scholarship Program for those who are an American citizen, an academic competition for recognition and scholarships in the United States.

For those who do not identify as a citizen of the USA, the April and October PSAT tests offers excellent feedback to best prepare a student for the SAT. The in depth feedback on a student’s strengths and weaknesses provides critical insight so that a student can focus on those areas that could most benefit from additional study or practice prior to sitting the SAT’s in their final year of school. It also importantly allows students to compare results with that of others applying to college or university in the USA.

Students interested in sitting either the PSAT and/or the PSAT/NMSQT Test need to register directly with The Southport School. Please register via our online page:

Please contact Ms Katrina Martin, or phone 07 5531 9944 or Mrs Helen McCleary, or phone 07 5531 9865 if you have any further queries.
