Ms Jo Inglis, Head of Learning and Teaching
The Class of 2020 finished the year with outstanding academic results, reflecting their effort and commitment throughout what was a unique year of schooling across the country and indeed, the world. A highlight for TSS was the awarding of the highest ATAR of 99.95 to TSS Dux Vishaak Gangasandra, one of only 30 students in Queensland to achieve this outstanding result. As a result of strong performance in the first external exams under the new QCE, in almost every Year 12 subject offered at TSS the percentage of A and/or B grades was significantly higher than the Queensland state average. Almost one third of our students’ ATARs were above 90:00 which translates to wide choices for Tertiary Entry opportunities and TSS students are reporting that they have gained access to their university course of choice across Australia with a number considering offers of scholarships. We are also pleased to note that Jack McCarthy has accepted enrolment to study a degree in Business at Cornell University in the USA.
We have invited Vishaak Gangasandra, Joe Castor, Shaun Ledingham and Jackson Hardy, all of whom achieved an ATAR over 99, to receive the inaugural TSS Academic Blazer, instigated by new Headmaster Mr Hawkins, at the first Senior School Assembly to be held in the new Annand Theatre on 25 February.
TSS Dux Vishaak Gangasandra – 2020 Graduation Awards
Next week we recognise the 2020 Semester Two Dean’s List recipients at Thursday’s assembly, celebrating academic success of students from Years 8 to 12. Covid-19 restrictions continue to limit the number of guests which can attend and, as for 2020, this special assembly will be live streamed for parents and friends to enjoy.
