Mr Tony Watt – Dean of Boarding
The term is well under way in boarding with an incredible array of activities and events on offer. With two public holidays in the first two weeks, the boys have been fully engaged in a full boarding program. Every seat on the bus to the Anzac dawn service was occupied while all Year 8 and 9 boarders marched proudly in the Southport Anzac Day Service. This term has already seen boys participate in trips to Main Beach, the golf range, Movie World, a social with St Hilda’s, an outdoor big screen movie with another eighties classic, and a fishing competition. Next weekend sees the boarder trivia competition take place as well as the commencement of surfing lessons.
Next week Greg Wain, Karel Bos and I travel out west to a number of information sessions in a variety of rural and regional centres. Please feel free to forward the below email to any interested families or contact me directly should you have any further information regarding prospective enrolment. We are only too happy to travel to regions where there is an interest and although we might not be travelling through this area on this trip, we can and will make the journey to meet families.
On Wednesday, boys participated in a different program that included House photographs, a drama rehearsal and a data tracking/goal-setting day. The House Drama festival has a long and proud history at TSS and all boarding Houses are busily preparing for their big performance. We will endeavour to live stream the boarding productions and will email all boarding families in the near future.
Let me introduce to the boarding committee the boarding committee that meets every fortnight to discuss relevant issues in boarding through the eyes of the boarders. The committee raises issues regarding food and activities, as well as discusses ideas around service activities. In recent times, we have generated a number of activities to celebrate National Boarding Week- an initiative of The Australian Boarding Schools Association.

GETTING UP TO DATE ON THE REACH UPDATE
Thanks for your understanding and patience in regard to the REACH upgrade which was effected this year. If you find that you’re unable to sign-on, please email the REACH support line on firstname.lastname@example.org or the TSS IT department on email@example.com and they’ll be able to sort out any issues you may be experiencing. In addition, if you’re a parent who finds the whole REACH leave management system somewhat mystifying, you probably are not alone and one of the links below may just help in de-mystifying things.
• REACH Parent User Guide
• User Dashboard – Parent & Boarder
• My Account – Parents
