Cricket – Round 3 vs TGS

Steven Baker – Director of Cricket

Round 3 of the GPS cricket saw TSS play GPS “Heavy Weights” TGS. They were coming off a bye and washout whereas TSS were coming off the Festival of Cricket weekend…and were primed!

First XI started well off the bowling partnership of Casey Murphy and Ky Newitt having TGS 9/31 at one stage then all out for 62. Ky Newitt enjoyed a special day with the ball taking six wickets and bamboozling the TGS top order with his subtle changes in flight and pace with his Right Arm Off Spinners. In reply TSS got the total in 19 overs for a double bonus point win off the back of Eli Fahey and Hugo Burdon. The First XI are on top of table but there are some challenging games to come!

In other games the 9A boys had a remarkable win to rally to chase down 140 with only a few deliveries remaining in their innings. The 7A’s set an imposing total of 7/227 off 40 overs with Lachie Mair hitting 8 sixes on track to scoring a remarkable hundred. Not to be outdone 10A’s set 1/225 with Sam Heathwood registering a fine hundred and Judd van der Laan 77no. Well done boys! However two plays of the day are…

  • Second XI winning on the last ball of the day with Isaac Eckersley scoring 81 and Jack Rayner 4 wickets with the ball.
  • Our new 5C, 6C and 7E Teams playing their first GPS fixture and 5C’s sneaking a win on debut!
