Dean of Boarding

Mr Tony Watt | Dean of Boarding

BPSG Meeting

Thank you for those parents in attendance at the most recent BPSG meeting. It was a most productive session and I acknowledge the tremendous work been carried out by Cherie McDonald, Helen Wagner and Susie Kelly. The meeting also gave me an opportunity to update the group of the most recent happenings at TSS boarding. Attached below is a link with the minutes of the meeting for anyone interested.

BPSG minutes

Since the meeting, the Headmaster has agreed to increase funding to the catering component of our boarding offering in 2018. We have also introduced a more workable system of how boys access “seconds” each evening. Essentially, boys do not have to wait for any extended periods before they can access more food. This issue was worked through with the boys in a boarding committee with kitchen staff. The boys are very excited by this small yet significant change.

Bush to Beach Function

From the President of the BPSG, Mrs Cherie McDonald writes

The boys and girls from the bush were back in town last weekend for the annual TSS St Hilda’s Bush to Beach Bash. The night did not disappoint with a strong number of people attending, delicious food and cold beer and wine to quench the thirst of many. It was a night where many caught up with old friends and acquaintances and new friendships were made.

A huge thank you to those who donated for the multi draw raffles, we had such a wonderful array of prizes to give away. A special thank you also to the Chapman Family and Wagner Family for their generosity donating such fabulous auction items that certainly were very popular on the night.

The final tally for the night is still in progress and will be revealed in the coming weeks.

In closing, it is time to reflect and be thankful for our wonderful TSS community, not only a great fundraiser but also friend raiser. Thank you.

National Child Protection Week

As an Anglican school, TSS boarding supports the rights of children and young people and are committed to ensure the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students. Anglican schools are therefore committed to responding to allegations of student harm resulting from the conduct or actions of any person including that of employees.

The Anglican school commitment includes the provision of a safe and supportive living and learning environment for all students and requires all employees, volunteers and visitors to model and encourage behaviour that upholds the dignity and protection of students from harm.

Next term, the TSS boarding environment will undertake a full and comprehensive audit by the Executive of the Australian Boarding Schools Association that will benchmark our offering against the recently ratified National Boarding Standards. This audit is not compulsory but we wish to ensure that all appropriate standards in our boarding environment either meet or exceed the national standard.
