Delpratt House News

Mr Karel Bos | Delpratt Housemaster

A big thank you to the Chandler Family (Willie, Marcelle, Hughie, AJ and Emma) for once again donating the “HOME CREEK CHANDLER CHOPS” to the Dellie breakfast – hope to see as many families as possible on Saturday morning.

Last week the Headmaster announced the news that Mr Dan Saw will be joining Delpratt boarding for term 4 and 2018 …

Mr Dan Saw Assistant Housemaster

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to your family, as the new Assistant Housemaster of the mighty Delpratt House. My name is Daniel Saw. I currently live locally with my wife, Sarah and our three adventurous boys, Darcy (6 y.o), Flynn (4 y.o) and Liam (18 months).  My formative years were spent in South-west Victoria, predominately in a small town on the Great Ocean Road, called Anglesea.  Great place to grow up!

I have a Masters in Science (Mining Rehabilitation) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science.  Professionally, I bring a diversity of experiences to TSS.  Outside of education I have managed my own business in the Outdoor Education industry and worked in the Oil and Gas industry as an Environmental Advisor, Water Engineer and in LNG shipping operations and marketing.  Most my time working in O&G was spent in the Maranoa Region, predominately around Roma and Injune.  I have even had the privilege of stepping foot on a few Boarding family properties!

In regards to my education experience, I have spent time teaching in London and more recently worked at Saint Stephen’s College (on the GC) in various Pastoral Care leadership positions, including Head of Middle School, Head of House and Director of Student Leadership.  My teaching specialties include Science (Biology) and Geography.  I joined TSS in 2017 as the Day Housemaster of Melbourne House.

My family and I are thoroughly looking forward to joining the Delpratt Family, officially in Term 4.  We value the belief that each boy is unique, an individual to be valued and respected, whose strengths and needs must be acknowledged and planned for.  We recognise the importance of establishing positive and caring working relationships with each boy and family, which I must say, is one of the things we are most looking forward to by joining Boarding!  With that in mind, we look forward to meeting you all very soon!

House shield report

Ike Woods | Sports Captain – Warden

Congratulations Ike Woods – Warden of The Southport School

Delpratt is currently on top of the house cluster table due to the boy’s tremendous efforts. starting off slow coming 8th in house swimming, the boys really turned it around with a solid performance in the tennis and tug of war cluster sneaking into the top 3 finishing third. All of the boys started to co-operate much better after gaining some confidence with outstanding performances in the next three clusters finishing first in drama and cross country and fourth in soccer/declamations/volleyball.  This has put us in a great position to win the House Shield which hasn’t been done since 1994. With athletics coming up soon we hope to continue our run with another great result.

A Busy week coming up…

Wednesday: Year 10 Dance Class (final)

Thursday: Generations Dinner

Friday: Beach to Bush Boarder Bash

Saturday: Delpratt Breakfast & BGS Matches

Hope to see as many Dellie families on the weekend

Year 12s and 11s at dinner last week – great night with the seniors
