Step back so kids step up
As young people spend increasing amounts of time online, their social lives, and in turn, their social and emotional wellbeing, they become increasingly entrenched in the digital world. As they journey through adolescence in this permanently public landscape, dealing with the effects on self-esteem, friendship issues, self-worth and wellbeing can be challenging to say the least.
Join Martine Oglethorpe, a technology expert who is an accredited speaker with the Office of the eSafety Commissioner, has a background in secondary education and a Masters in Counselling.
This webinar will look at how we can best equip our young people to thrive both online and in real life as they grow up immersed in online spaces.
Wednesday 30 October 2019 8:00pm – 9:00pm AEDT.
How you can register
30 boys from Years 5 and 6 ventured to AB Paterson College on Tuesday afternoon to contest the annual Public Speaking competition. The competition has long had a wonderful reputation for promoting Public Speaking skills and more than 40 schools across the Gold Coast and South East Qld nominated almost 200 students in total for each year level.
In recent years, TSS Preparatory School students have enjoyed success in making it through to the Preliminary Finals round, and this year’s crop of boys showcased a wonderful array of skills to grab the eye of the adjudicators’.
Congratulations, in particular, to Tyler Lees, Lachie Crain and Ruari Wan (Year 5) as well as Nicholas Hill, Hudson Sheehan, Kyle Grassick and Jude Purza Page (Year 6) who earned selection from their Heats to contest the Finals at AB Paterson College next week.
Enrolments for 2020 are being finalised and the walking tours for prospective parents have been very busy of late. It is important that any family considering TSS as the school for their son next year must finalise their enrolment as soon as possible. Contact the admissions office or apply online.
If you are aware of family, friends or neighbours who are planning on a TSS enrolment, please encourage them to apply as soon as possible.
