Operation Christmas Child

Mr Mark Hoppe – Honours Teacher/Dixon Housemaster

This year, Dixon House is embarking on a new and exciting initiative as one part of its fundraising effort for 2017 and we invite you to share in the joy of it. Operation Christmas Child is the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, bringing hope and smiles to more than 147 million children in 150 countries since it first started back in 1993.

The idea is simple – to pack a small shoebox full of inexpensive but invaluable gifts for an impoverished child and know that you’ve given the gift of Christmas to a child that might otherwise go without.

Each child in the Prep School has been invited to take up the challenge, with a wonderful response from the younger Year levels already – some even including a Christmas letter or card in their present box as well. If boys and families feel that they might be able to complete more than the one box, Dixon leaders will gladly distribute more resources to classrooms asap.

THE DEADLINE TO HAVE ALL BOXES RETURNED, READY TO FREIGHT INTERNATIONALLY, IS THE END OF WEEK 4. Happy shopping and thank you in advance from Dixon House and the boys and girls you’re helping to put a smile on their faces this Christmas.
