Admissions Administration Assistant

(Part-time – 8 week fixed term contract)

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 118 years and is committed to providing a wholistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced Christian environment.

Our Admissions team pride themselves on their warmth of welcome and generosity in terms of accessibility, time, knowledge and intimate understanding of the machinations of the school ensuring that every enquiry and point of contact with TSS reflects our culture and school values.

With this in mind, our team are seeking an experienced database administrator and first responder to assist in the management of general enquiries and administration commencing in a part-time capacity from 20 May to 19 July. The role may require some hours to be worked through the June/July school holiday period though this will be subject to operational requirements. Ideally, this role will operate approximately 3 hours per day, 5 days per week from 10.00am to 1.00pm; however flexibility is essential as work flows may vary from time to time requiring additional hours as and when required.

To be considered for this role, candidates ideally will have:

  • A warm and professional telephone and front of house manner in dealing with general phone and walk-in enrolment enquiries – exceptional interpersonal skills are essential for this first response role;
  • Strong administrative skills – advanced use of Word and Excel are required;
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy, specifically data-entry skills – exposure to, or use of TASS is considered essential, or an evidenced ability to learn a system quickly is highly beneficial; and
  • A high level of discretion and confidentiality in managing enrolment documentation and outcomes.

The role will be responsible for:

  • Initial point of contact for all general enquiries;
  • Uploading of enquiry and enrolment documentation into the TASS database;
  • Preparation and distribution of enrolment enquiry material;
  • General administration – responding to emailed enquiries, setting tour and interview appointments; and
  • Any other duties as required or requested.

Boarding House Supervisor – Year 7

Non-residential position – commencing Term 2, 2019
Fixed term – immediate start available

The Southport School has been established for 118 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced, holistic Christian environment. We are extremely proud to say that boarding life has always been an integral feature of TSS since the first boarders arrived in 1909 into Thorold, McKinley and Delpratt Houses. The boarders bring to TSS particular personal qualities and give the School a soul, a life and sense of community.

We are now seeking applications for the paid position of a non-residential Resident Master – this is a live out, and work in position. We are seeking exceptional individuals who are willing to become an integral part of our Year 7 Boarder’s daily lives, blending this opportunity with candidates’ study or work schedules ideally in the field of education. This role would ideally commence in term 2, and would conclude at the end of term 4, 2019.

In the role of a non-residential (live out- work in) Resident Master, the successful candidate will be available to work 2 x weekends per term (27 hrs), and 1 x am/pm duty per week (7.5 hrs) – duties only occur in term time (37 weeks per year).

To be considered for this role applicants must:

  • Hold a current first aid certificate;
  • be prepared to complete ABSA Level 1 Boarding/Duty of Care qualification
  • have completed or be engaged in 3rd year of tertiary or post-graduate studies or be working ideally in the field of education;
  • be aligned with the vision of the school and the Anglican Ethos; and
  • have a passion for working with, and supporting the wellbeing and safety of young people as a mentor and a support person in a supervisory capacity.

All applicants must be eligible to hold a working with children blue card, provide a recent police check, and submit to Anglican Diocese National register checks.

Secondary Classroom Music Teacher with Choral experience

Semester two 2019 – 12 months – Leave Cover Contract

The School has a vibrant Boarding, Education, Cultural and Sporting program that extends across the full year and two campuses.

We have a full time fixed term maternity leave contract commencing from Semester two in our Senior School music department. The school is seeking candidates who are intuitive, vibrant self-starters, and who are focused on supporting boys learning outcomes through innovative teaching practices in the field of Music. Candidates are also welcome to highlight any pastoral care leadership experience or engagement in this capacity.

Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond in engaging with our students and becoming an active participant in the cultural fabric of the school. Candidates should include their extra-curricular or co-curricular involvement in their school community.

Ideally candidates will have demonstrated experience or current involvement in delivering the senior music curriculum and choral experience is highly regarded and preferred. Applicants must be eligible for, or hold current Queensland Teacher Registration.
