Senior School Receptionist/Main Switchboard Operator

Full time, term time (37 weeks) + 5 weeks per annum
Fixed term contract commencing 2019

A full-time opportunity now exists in our Senior School for a full-time receptionist-switchboard operator operating five (5) days per week from 8.15am to 4.15pm daily. This position would suit an experienced candidate who thrives in what is a very busy role that requires multi-tasking across a myriad of functions including management of the main switchboard, front of house senior school reception, and generalist administration supporting the Human Resources Manager.

This role requires a professional, polished and personalized approach to customer service as first point of contact for the community and requires the candidate to not only become the ‘fountain of knowledge’ in terms of the life of the School, but also demonstrate discretion, care, compassion, and support for the community in all of their interactions daily. An eye for detail is essential as this role does have administrative functions that support the daily Human Resource operations.

To be considered for this role applications should highlight:

  • Experience managing a busy reception and main switchboard – candidates must have recent front of house and switchboard experience;
  • The ability to problem solve and provide an exemplary level of customer service and personalized care to all stakeholders and our community;
  • Multi-tasking capabilities as this role is often asked to provide support in varied forms when called upon as part of our ‘all hands on deck’ culture whilst still maintaining front of house operations;
  • Strong administrative capabilities and attention to detail as this role provides generalist administration, data entry, document preparation and HR compliance support to the Human Resources Manager;
  • Confidentiality, discretion, care, compassion and the ability to support our whole of school team and community professionally and efficiently without compromising service.

HPE Teacher

1 x full time permanent – 1 x fixed term contract (1 year) position – Commencing January 2019

The Southport School now has a permanent and a fixed term teaching opportunity in the Senior School commencing in January 2019.  The Southport School is seeking an intuitive, vibrant, and innovative HPE Teacher who can capture the hearts and minds of the boys (Years 7 -12) through a demonstrated passion for the health and wellbeing of adolescent boys, the integration of technology, e-learning and innovative pedagogical practice and who demonstrates a willingness to go above and beyond in the school community.

Additionally, we are focused on appointing a candidate who is committed to a holistic involvement in school life, including academic, cultural and sporting and/or boarding and who may have held pastoral care responsibilities.

Candidate applications should:

  • Detail recent senior (inclusive of Year 11 & 12) HPE teaching experience,
  • Identify knowledge and pedagogical impact of the incoming curriculum changes,
  • Demonstrated engagement with QCAA new senior curriculum preparation processes,

  • Outdoor education experience would be considered beneficial though not essential,
  • Demonstrate current use and integration of technology across the curriculum,

French Language Teacher

Full time permanent teaching position commencing January 2019

Commencing from January 2019 we now have a full time permanent teaching opportunity for an intuitive, innovative and vibrant French Language Teacher who has a demonstrated passion for the French culture and language.  Candidates should through their application specifically identify current innovative pedagogical practices including the use of e-learning, as well as examples of active engagement with students and the community in bringing French language and culture to life in the classroom.

To be considered for this role, candidates should:

  • demonstrate strong cultural and linguistic skills;
  • have recent experience in teaching French language and culture from years 7 to 12;
  • have a comprehensive understanding of the Australian Curriculum – French;
  • demonstrated knowledge of, and engagement with QCAA new senior curriculum preparation processes,
  • be able and willing to teach another subject area (please identify in application); and

Boarding House Supervisor

Resident Master Residential position commencing July 2018

We are extremely proud to say that boarding life has always been an integral feature of TSS since the first boarders arrived in 1909 into Thorold, McKinley and Delpratt Houses. The boarders bring to TSS particular personal qualities and give the School a soul, a life and sense of community.

The boarding community is now seeking expressions of interest for candidates interested in the position of Resident Master – this is a live in, work out position.  We are seeking exceptional individuals who are willing to become an integral part of our Boarder’s daily lives and our Boarding community – ideally blending this opportunity with candidates’ study schedules ideally in the field of education or professional roles in the community.

In the role of Resident Master, you will be required to provide up to 15 hours of residential supervisory duty per week (rostered term time – 37 weeks per year) and in return will be provided with:

  • Single accommodation only (studio room with kitchenette, ensuite and utilities included);
  • on-site catering (dining hall access during term time);
  • access to the extensive onsite facilities, and;
  • the opportunity to be part of, and become an active member in a vibrant and diverse Boarding community that focuses on the holistic well-being of our Boarding students.

To be considered for this role applicants should:

  • Hold a current first aid certificate;
  • be prepared to complete ABSA Level 1 Boarding/Duty of Care qualification
  • have completed or be engaged in 2nd or 3rd year of tertiary or post-graduate studies or be working ideally in the field of education;
  • be aligned with the vision of the school and the Anglican Ethos; and
  • have a passion for working with, and supporting the wellbeing and safety of young people as a mentor and a support person in a supervisory capacity.
