Early Childhood Educator

Commencing mid-August 2021 (Full time, term time)

The Southport School’s Preschool provides an outstanding early learning education for boys. Our Preschool is now seeking an experienced, dynamic, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator to support the classroom teacher in all aspects of the Preschool program. This position has the flexibility to access non-term time casual work in the school holiday vacation care program. Hours consist of 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday, with every third week covering 7am – 3pm. This is a term-time position.

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess a:

  • Certificate III in Children’s Services or higher early childhood qualification – experience in Reggio Emilia pedagogy and Abecedarian Approach is considered advantageous.
  • Certified Supervisors certificate
  • Current first aid certificate (with CPR),
  • Current blue card, and
  • Criminal history check certificate (recent).

Previous experience as an early childhood educator within a kindergarten program will be highly regarded. Candidates with a Bachelor of Education – Early Childhood are also encouraged to apply as several our Educators currently hold this qualification.

Music Administrator – Senior School

Part time, term time + 1 week (38 weeks per annum) commencing August 2021

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 120 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced, holistic Christian environment. The school has a vibrant academic, cultural, boarding and sporting program that extends across the full year and two campuses.

TSS is now seeking an experienced Administrator to provide support and assistance to our very busy senior school Music Department. Working from our beautiful new Annand Theatre complex, this role is responsible for the front of house Music reception area and will also work closely to support both our School music community (students, parents, staff) and our external stakeholders (music tutors and guests). This role will be part of our TSS Corporate Team and will report to the Head of Department – Music

This role is a term time + 1 week (38 weeks per year) role and will operate Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm – inclusive of pupil free days. Candidates for this role must be able to demonstrate through their application:

  • Strong administrative skills – advanced/proficient use of Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, general multi-media skills, etc. – some desktop publishing would be considered beneficial, but not essential.
  • Experience in using databases, and the accurate input and reporting of data – experience with TASS would be beneficial, but again not essential.
  • Ability to build rapport and work with and in support of diverse stakeholder groups (students, parents, music tutors, staff, service providers).
  • Strong organisational skills as this role does work closely with the music tutors and staff in scheduling, invoicing for services provided, compliance requirements and managing student and parent enquiries.
  • Event management skills as this role will assist with and support the numerous events that the department and students take part in across the year, both in-house and externally – this role does require some afterhours attendance at events.

Qualifications and experience required

  • Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced administrative role is essential.
  • Experience in managing a front of house reception area – professional standards, presentation, and service delivery.
  • Ability to learn, adapt and ‘think on your feet’ – strong solution focused problem-solving skills.
  • High level of attention to detail and computer literacy – advanced administrative skills.
  • Clear communication skills (both verbal and written) – assisting with Music tutor communications and support.
  • Confidence liaising with internal and external stakeholders (including students, staff, parents, and external service providers)

WHSO and Property Administration Officer

Full time (term-time) position

providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced,
holistic Christian environment. The School has a vibrant Boarding, Education, Cultural and Sporting program that operates
year-round and across our two campuses.

The Southport School’s Property Team comprises of our Grounds, Maintenance, Security and Facilities teams who all work
closely together to create a safe environment for our students, their families, and our staff to operate across and within. Our
School is immensely proud of the work that they do in support of our School community.

We are now seeking an experienced WHSO and Property Administrator to join our team. This role will report to the Property
Manager and support the Property Team by ensuring all workplace health and safety and risk management obligations are met
as well providing strong administrative support services in the realm of record keeping, legislative and policy updates, and
contractor support. This is a full time (term-time) position, operating Monday to Friday 8.15am to 4.15pm.

Key responsibilities associated with this role include:

  • Assist the Property Manager in researching and advising in relation to relevant legislation, technical and other
    guidance material which relates to workplace health and safety.
  • Ensure records are current and meet the departments and School’s requirements under various acts and legislation
    such as fire, electrical testing, plant maintenance, etc.
  • Maintaining the database for all plant and equipment to ensure maintenance is completed as per maintenance
    schedules and legislative and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and liaise with contractors and process and prepare invoices for payment
  • Induct and monitor contractors on site and direct them to the work locations as appropriate.
  • Liaise with maintenance, grounds staff and contractors and provide administrative support where required or
    appropriate.
  • Assist with any activities or projects occuring across the School as required or directed.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with several key internal and external stakeholders.
Candidates must be able to multi-task and demonstrate advanced administrative skills. A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a
qualified WHSO is essential.

Boatshed Facility Supervisor

Full time (not term time) – immediate start available

excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care, and extra-curricular endeavors within
a balanced Christian environment.

At TSS we are very proud of our Property Team and the incredible and diverse work they do across
our two campuses. To this end, we are now seeking an experienced Boatshed Facility Supervisor
(Boatman) to join our team who will be responsible for the overall maintenance and operations of the
School’s boatshed facility, can undertake the repairs and maintenance of vessels (sailing, rowing and
motorized) and manage the upkeep of the facility itself. This role will report to the Property Manager
and will be a member of the wider Property team.

This role is a full-time role (not term time) and will operate Monday to Friday ordinarily 8.15am to
4.15pm. Altered hours will occur during rowing and sailing season (Oct – Mar) to ensure availability
and contact with the respective groups.

Ideally candidates will have demonstrated skills, abilities, and experience in general boat repairs
(fibre-glassing, minor painting, chip and collision repairs, general maintenance) as well as a houseproud approach to ensuring that all work areas, student areas and the boatshed facility itself is clean,
tidy and operating safely.

To be considered for this role candidates will have:

  • Boat building and repairs experience and/or related qualifications
  • Building, maintenance or handyman related experience or qualifications
  • Have experience in implementing and upkeeping electronic record keeping – ensuring all
    repairs, maintenance, machinery warrantee and registration and lease programs are
    documented and reviewed regularly
  • • Be prepared to engage in the boatshed programs – must be available to attend a minimum of
    one rowing and sailing regatta each season as well water-related camps (by invitation) to
    ensure understanding of the scope of use and maintenance and in situ repairs requirements
    of all craft used.
  • Induct and/or assess rowing and sailing coaches and staff on the safe operations of watercraft.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills – this role requires the candidate to
    proactively engage with stakeholder groups as well as work closely with the wider facilities
    and maintenance and grounds teams as and when required.
