Part Time Library Assistant/Technician

Contract position – Term time – commencing term one, 2021

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 118 years and is committed to providing a wholistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced Christian environment.

The Southport School is seeking an experienced and qualified Library Assistant or Technician who can provide advanced library support and administrative services two (2) days per week from the commencement of term one 2021. This is a term time position, working two days per week from 8.15am to 4.15pm daily. This role is offered as a short term one-year contract only.

The School is focused on securing a candidate who has a blend of experiences and skills that include but are not limited to:

  • The ability to work independently, and with or part of, a team
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, high attention to detail, and the ability to structure, plan and manage priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrates professional front of house service and communication skills and strategies that support the students, parents and staff visiting the library
  • Demonstrated technician experience with related qualifications – requires knowledge of LMS Oliver version 5, textbook management and purchasing, and liaising with publishers as required.
  • Understanding of webpage design and management, and account management skills and experience are desirable, but not essential.

Preparatory School Psychologist (Preschool to Year 6)

(Full time, term time + 2 weeks – Fixed term contract – commencing 2021)

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 120 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced, holistic Christian environment for young men. The Southport School has a growing enrolment of over 1600 students made up of 1090 students in the Senior School, of which approximately 310 are boarder students (Years 7 to 12), and 650 day students in the Preparatory School.

The Southport School seeks a School Psychologist who will support our Preparatory School community and who possesses experience in Educational and Developmental psychology to work closely with our learning support team to improve the wellbeing and academic success of our boys. The Psychologist will be based at the Preparatory campus and will be part of a team of professionals, working collaboratively to enhance the well-being for students and their families as well as being an integral member of the School’s Wellbeing Health team. The role will engage frequently with a diverse group of stakeholders including but not limited to the Deputy Headmaster – Head of the Preparatory School, Deputy Headmaster – Pastoral Care, Housemasters, staff, students, parents and allied health professionals and will report to the Director of the Wellbeing Health team.

This role will operate full time hours 8.15am to 4.15pm Monday to Friday, term time + 2 weeks (39 weeks per year).

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Essential:

  1. Current full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA, with at least 5 years professional practice within an educational context.
  2. Demonstrated competence in individual, family and crisis counselling, preferably within a primary school setting.
  3. Demonstrated experience administering psychometrics relevant to cognitive, social, emotional and behavioural measures.
  4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of ethical practice. Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  5. Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a team, with high levels of accountability.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents, staff and other community stakeholders.

Desirable:

  1. Postgraduate or further qualifications in psychology
  2. Eligibility for membership with the Australian Psychological Society.
  3. Practice Endorsement or qualifications in Educational and Developmental Psychology, Health Psychology or Positive Psychology would be highly desirable.
