Teacher of History and Social Sciences (HaSS)

Full time – Permanent

The Southport School is now seeking a full-time permanent Teacher of HaSS in the subject areas of Geography and History commencing either term 4, 2022, or term 1, 2023. Experience in delivering senior Modern History would be considered highly beneficial. We would like to work with and support candidates who have a passion for boys’ education and who understand how to engage students through their innovative and student outcome focused teaching practices.

Secondary Classroom Music Teacher

The school is now seeking candidates for a full-time permanent Teacher of Music (Senior Campus) to commence preferably from term 4, 2022. We are very keen to hear from candidates who love to inspire students through their own love of music and who have the ability to engage students through their relational style of teaching and their innovative teaching and student engagement practices. General Carpenter/Handyman – Maintenance Person

The Southport School, due to internal promotion, is now seeking a generalist carpenter/maintenance person to join the team in a full-time capacity. Whilst our maintenance team is small, they pride themselves on their generalist capabilities, absolute adaptability, and the ability to manage and address any number of diverse maintenance works across both our Preparatory and Senior School campuses.

It is important that candidates can demonstrate a strong mechanical, as well as building maintenance and repairs-based aptitude that ranges from carpentry, renovation, or small building projects, as well as the ability to undertake varied general repairs and maintenance of internal and external building structures. Candidates must have a can-do, problem-solving attitude and the ability to adapt to the dynamic environment that School’s and especially those who offer boarding, are.

This role does require candidates to be able work within a small and highly effective team as well as operate and carry out tasks independently. Importantly candidates must be service focused and be able to build rapport and provide maintenance support to our large on-site day and boarding community.

SCHOOL NURSE (RN) – Senior School Healthcentre

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. Our boarding community, one of the largest in Queensland, prides itself on providing a home away from home for 320 students from 11 – 18 years old, and in doing so, provides a rich, vibrant, and rewarding working environment for our staff. Our Healthcentre team play an important role in our boarding team as they provide a 24-hour onsite healthcare service which provides essential peace of mind for our boarding families who, for many, are so far away.

Our Healthcentre team are now seeking to expand the team and have casual shifts available for experienced registered nurses who are passionate about adolescent health and welfare to become part of our relief/casual team. We are looking for those super special candidates who enjoy working with and caring for young people and who will confidently provide a high level of care and support in the assessment of our students needs on a relief/casual basis. Confidentiality, discretion, empathy, compassion, and a good sense of humour are essential qualities in the delivery of our healthcare services. Importantly, candidates must be able to build rapport and communicate professionally and compassionately with our students’ families and with our boarding community.

We are seeking candidates who might ideally have experience in sports injury management, wound care, and other contemporary adolescent health care issues including but not limited to mental health, diabetes management, respiratory and other chronic conditions.

Our School runs a very busy academic and co-curricular program year-round and so there is always an opportunity to pick up additional shifts to cover camps, COVID check requirements, provide relief cover for our team both on our senior and prep campus, and to help on sports days or at special events if required.

To be considered for the role candidates must:

  • Hold full registration – Registered Nurses only – minimum 5 years clinical experience
  • Must provide evidence of full COVID vaccination – a requirement of the Queensland Government Public Health Directive – medical services.
  • Strong administrative and record management skills.
  • Enjoy supporting and working with adolescent patients and their families.
  • Sports first aid and wound care experience highly beneficial but not essential.
