Database Administration Officer

Commencing March 2018 – Full time – term time + 5 weeks – fixed term contract

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 117 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced, holistic Christian environment. The School has a vibrant Boarding, Sporting and Education program that extends across the full year and two campuses.

The Southport School is seeking a Database Administration Officer who will provide full time (38 hours per week) administrative, and database management in our Studies Department. This is a term time + five (5) week position, so operating 42 weeks per annum + 4 weeks of annual leave.

The role would be responsible for:

  • Database management and related support services for staff, students and families;
  • Running database reporting in support of key stakeholders;
  • Password and log on management for parents and new staff;
  • Statutory reporting as and when required;
  • A number of administrative functions associated with student reporting; and
  • Providing relief teacher management one term per year or as required.

Specifically, candidates must have:

  • The ability to work independently, and as part of a team;
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and proactivity in problem solving is essential;
  • A high degree of attention to detail (data entry accuracy essential);
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to structure, plan and manage priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrates a professional front of house service and can communicate proactively, effectively and with sensitivity with our staff, families and students.

Candidates should identify in their applications experience in:

  • Managing data, accurate inputting and large database management
  • Use of initiative and proactivity to source data and provide reporting to stakeholders
  • Exposure to statutory reporting and accurate data sourcing and retrieval
  • Previous TASS database experience would be considered beneficial though not essential as full training will be provided.

Senior School – Library Assistant

Commencing early March 2018 – (Full time, term time)

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 117 years and is committed to providing a wholistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced Christian environment.

The Southport School is now seeking a qualified Library Assistant who will primarily be based on the Senior Campus and who can provide advanced library support and administrative services in a full time capacity (38hours per week) – this is a term time position (37 weeks of work per year + annual leave) with the likelihood of one shift of evening work per week (12.30pm to 8.30pm) to cater for our large boarding community with an immediate start anticipated for the successful candidate.

Ideally candidates will have had recent and specific experience working ideally in an educational library setting, and will have operational experience in using Oliver and ClickView.

The School is focused on securing a candidate who has a blend of experiences and skills that include but are not limited to:

  • The ability to work independently, and with or part of a team;
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to structure, plan and manage priorities effectively;
  • Provide a professional and high level front of house service and support to students, parents and staff visiting the library;
  • Demonstrated recent library Assistant experience and knowledge with related qualifications; and
  • Understanding of webpage design and management, and account management skills and experience are desirable, but not essential.
