The Southport School’s Preparatory School (TSS Prep) provides an outstanding education for boys. The Preparatory School is very proud of its dedicated team of teachers and their teaching assistants who understand the special ways in which boys learn and who carefully nurture authentic relationships based upon mutual respect and genuine care. These relationships are the key to the Preparatory School’s success as boys and teachers work together in setting and achieving Academic, Sporting and Cultural goals.
Commencing in January 2020, TSS Prep is seeking a teaching assistant who is intuitive, creative, adaptive, and can anticipate and manage the needs of the students as well as providing professional and effective support to our teaching team. This role is a part time role in that it operates Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 3.30pm, and is term time only. It is anticipated that the successful candidate when in this role will form a strong partnership with their classroom teacher, students and parents, and provide invaluable in-class support.
The school is seeking candidates who are intuitive, vibrant self-starters, and who are focused on supporting boys learning outcomes through innovative teaching practices. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate a willingness to go above and beyond in engaging with our students and becoming an active participant in the cultural fabric of the school.
Our staff are committed to a holistic involvement in school life, which includes a commitment to engaging in activities across the school, ideally in their area of interest (sport, music, cultural, etc). Candidates should include in their application areas in which they are currently contributing to the co-curricular or extra-curricular life of their school community.
Successful candidates will be willing to support the Anglican Code of Conduct and stated values and Christian Ethos of the School and must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate professional boundaries and standards when working with children and young people. Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a working with children bluecard and may be asked to provide a recent Police check certificate.
