OSHC Group Leader (Contracted position)
Commencing Term One – January 2023

The Southport School is a leading Anglican School for boys and offers a kindergarten (preschool) program as part of its long day care service. This is an exciting extension of the school’s well established and highly regarded educational program.

The Preschool is very proud of its dedicated team who understand the special ways in which boys learn and who carefully nurture authentic relationships based upon mutual respect and genuine care. These relationships are the key to the Preschool’s success and so to build further on that highly successful program the TSS Preschool is seeking to provide a strong and complimentary Vacation care and OSHC team of professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a school team of educators dedicated to the provision of a first-class program for the Gold Coast community.

We are currently seeking an experienced Group Leader qualified Early Childhood Educator for our OSHC and vacation care program for boys aged 4-9 years and who is available for the following shifts:

• Weekday shifts (Monday to Friday) 3.00pm – 6.00pm in OSHC

Additionally, there may be opportunities for casual (relief type) work in Preschool and Vacation Care.

We offer all our Preschool team members access to our School run professional development programs and opportunities also attended by our Prep and Preschool educators, as well as additional relief work opportunities for casual work in Before School Care, and in the Preschool to cover professional learning and staff illness.

This is a contracted (not casual) position offering sick and annual leave accruals as well as access to our wonderful school facilities and wellbeing programs. LIBRARIAN – SENIOR SCHOOL Commencing January 2023

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 121 years and is committed to providing a wholistic education for boys focused on excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care, and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced Christian environment.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Librarian to join our senior school library and support the information service offerings from January 2023 in a full-time capacity Monday to Friday with some flexibility in starting and finishing times. This role will work term time (37 weeks) + six (6) additional school holiday weeks per annum for a total of 43 weeks per annum.

We are seeking candidates who are excited to deliver innovative and engaging library and information services to our students, staff and community through their own library management experience. We are looking for an experienced Librarian who will passionately engage with our staff and students across all year levels (years 7-12) and support the Head of Department –Information Services with the goal of developing cohorts of lifelong learners and readers. This role supports the Head of Department in the delivery of day to day information services, sourcing academic resources and investigating and deploying information service support to staff, students and the wider community. Candidates must have a tertiary Library and Information Service qualification.

To be considered for this position, candidates should:

• Expand on their library experience (educational settings beneficial but not essential),

• Discuss the ways in which they have enhanced the deployment or development of information and library services in their current or previous roles, and

• Indicate professional memberships in which they are active.

Boarding House Supervisor – ‘House Mum’

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School for boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Narang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School (TSS) has been established for 122 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced, holistic Christian environment.

The Southport School boarding community is now seeking a very special candidate who will share the role of ‘House Mum’ in a job-share capacity – 2 days per week term time. This role along with the boarding house team support boarding students from years 8 to 12 with house-based duties such as sorting washing, general clothing repairs (hemming pants), organizing medical appointment, and being an important conduit and point of contact for parents.

We are looking for that special someone who can show the right blend of empathy, compassion, care and support for our youngest boarding students and their families as well as supporting and developing independence and confidence in the older students as they become accustomed to all of the routines of a very busy school schedule, campus environment and school routines.

We now have a part-time (2 days per week or 15.2 hours per week) job-share opportunity which will operate term time (37 weeks per year). The day usually starts early around 7am, and finishes at 3pm, though there is some flexibility in that hours can be adjusted slightly to meet the needs of the House schedule and that of the right candidate.

This role would ideally suit candidates who are seeking to give back to a unique community and are seeking to be the presence in the house that provides a soft place to land and a supportive word, for our boys who are far away from mums, dads, and their home.

Candidates should:

• Hold or be willing to obtain a current first aid certificate which includes CPR – this is beneficial though not essential as the School can provide this training at the start of the year.

• Be able to undertake general clothing repairs (buttons, hems, stitching name tags). • Have great time management and multi-tasking capability.

• Demonstrate great communication skills across all mediums i.e., email, phone, video conferencing (zoom, etc); and

• Discuss ways in which they could value add with unique skills or experience to support the boys and staff in a boarding environment.
