At The Southport School, our students and staff reach their full potential in a safe environment of brotherhood, respect, and genuine caring. In partnership with families and our alumni, we challenge and support our students to become men who balance confidence with compassion. We contribute to the community and foster global citizens in the Anglican tradition.

The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding School for over 1700 boys situated on the banks of the beautiful Nerang River in the heart of the Gold Coast. The Southport School (TSS) has been established for 121 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care, and extra-curricular endeavours within a balanced, holistic Christian environment. The School has a vibrant community of 320 Boarders in Years 7 to 12 who, together with the 760 Day boys, drive a strong academic culture complimented by an extensive co-curricular program. Additionally, over 630 boys attend the TSS Preparatory School.

The Southport School is now seeking a Head of Learning and Teaching commencing in January 2023 who will assume the day-to-day leadership of the academic environment in the Senior School, including oversight of boarding and day student academic programs, overall tone, spirit, academic diligence, and the House-based learning analytics environment. The role will also work closely with academic leaders in the Preparatory School to ensure a successful transition to the Senior School Campus from the Preparatory School.

As a member of the School Executive, the Head of Learning and Teaching will work closely with the two School Deputy Headmasters – the Head of Preparatory School and the Head of Senior School.

It is important to note that the incumbent will be involved in leading and guiding teams in ensuring positive relationships between students, teachers, and parents. The Head of Learning and Teaching will demonstrate emotional intelligence, compassion, empathy, and a focus on optimal academic outcomes in the context of the holistic wellbeing of the boys. The position calls for an excellent communicator, both verbal and written who is able to engage the entire community including students, parents, alumni, and staff.
