The Southport School is a leading Anglican Day and Boarding school for boys situated on the beautiful Nerang River on the Gold Coast. The Southport School has been established for 117 years and is committed to providing excellence in leadership, learning and teaching, pastoral care and extra-curricular endeavors within a balanced, holistic Christian environment for young men.

A part-time opportunity now exists in our Senior School for a part-time receptionist-switchboard operator operating three days per week from 8.15am to 4.15pm daily. This position would suit an experienced candidate who thrives in what is a very busy role that requires multi-tasking across a myriad of functions including management of the main switchboard, front of house senior school reception, and generalist administration supporting the Human Resources Manager.

This role requires a professional, polished and personalized approach to customer service as first point of contact for the community and requires the candidate to not only become the ‘fountain of knowledge’ in terms of the life of the School, but also demonstrate discretion, care, compassion, and support for the community in all of their interactions daily. An eye for detail is essential as this role does have administrative functions that support the daily Human Resource operations.

To be considered for this role applications should highlight:

  • Experience managing a busy reception and main switchboard – candidates must have recent front of house and switchboard experience;
  • The ability to problem solve and provide an exemplary level of customer service and personalized care to all stakeholders and our community;
  • Multi-tasking capabilities as this role is often asked to provide support in varied forms when called upon as part of our ‘all hands on deck’ culture whilst still maintaining front of house operations;
  • Strong administrative capabilities and attention to detail as this role provides generalist administration, data entry, document preparation and HR compliance support to the Human Resources Manager;
  • Confidentiality, discretion, care, compassion and the ability to support our whole of school team and community professionally and efficiently without compromising service.

This role is initially offered as a fixed term, term time + 2 weeks’ contract to the end of term 4, 2018 after which time the role will be reviewed with consideration being given to advertising the role in a full time capacity.

Applicants should hold or be eligible to hold a working with children bluecard, and submit to a police check and Anglican Diocese National Register check. All staff at The Southport School should be supportive of the stated values and Christian Ethos of the School.

Applications close on Friday 11th May at 8.00am, must be submitted online to be considered, and should be directed to:
