Mark Lockett | Engineering Coordinator

To celebrate National Science Week 2017, Education Queensland and Griffith University hosted the Gold Coast Schools’ Pop-up Science Centre, showcasing Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) on Sunday 24th August at the Coomera Indoor Sports Centre.

The Southport School was asked to showcase its Drone Program.  Tom Wright and Calum Lockett provided outdoor flying demonstrations and drone flying tutorials to the general public.

Over 3000 members of the public attended the four-hour event, the boys were kept busy showing their skills and knowledge. I would like to thank Mr Ben Hirst, Head of Technology for his assistance during the event and Mr Randall Hall, Department of Education and Training for offering this opportunity to our students.
