Sixteen Year 6 students were selected to attend the 2017 GPS Academic Day of Excellence on Tuesday, October 10. Workshops help across two campuses, Brisbane Grammar School and St Joseph’s College ranged from coding using Scratch to create a Star Wars game, creative writing and maths engineering, orienteering using iPhones (what not during school hours?!) through to public speaking and debating.
Our boys behaved like true gentlemen all day. The program was rigorous and most boys appeared quite brain drained by the end of the day, even so all spoke highly of their individual experiences. These were challenging workshops. During my observations what pleased me the most was that each of these boys showed true grit and persistence as they faced these challenges. I know I felt extremely proud of not only how they held themselves, but also of what they had achieved pushing through these challenges.
A warm thank you to Mrs Schinckel for escorting the boys to Brisbane Grammar for the day and to Dave for driving us there and back.
