The GPS chess squad travelled to Toowoomba Grammar School last Friday to take on their TGS opponents. After starting the season the week before against BSHS with more losses than wins, the team were determined to achieve better results in round 2.
Despite the long bus trip, early results showed the round was going the way of TSS. In the end it was a successful night with the Premier Team taking a clean sweep of the boards, winning 8 – 0.
The other team results on the night were: Senior Team won 8 – 0, the Junior Team lost 2 – 6, the Open A’s lost 2 – 6, the Open B’s won 6 – 2 and the Open C’s won 6 – 2. Congratulations to the squad overall for this strong performance.
The player of the round this week was Harry Zdanowicz who played a very good game on Board 1 in the Open B’s. Well done Harry!
The team looks forward to taking on Ipswich Grammar School at home this Friday afternoon and evening.
