Happy Fathers Day and National Child Protection Week 2017

Andrew Hawkins Deputy Headmaster and Head of Senior School

To all the TSS Dads, Grandads, and father figures in the community we hope you get a chance to be with your son if you live locally this coming Sunday. To the families who live regionally, interstate and internationally, we hope you are able to engage with your busy boys in some capacity on Father’s Day this coming Sunday as well. Of course we have some mums in the community who do it all themselves, so to you we wish you a Happy MotherFathers Day too.

We have many proud parents here in our community and I am sure we have some anxious Year 12 parents whose sons have sat the Queensland Core Skills Test (QCST) on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The QCS Test accounts for 50 percent of our Year 12 OP results. It is a rigorous test composed of two multiple choice exams, one short response item, and the writing task conducted over two full days. The Year 12s have a stand down day this Thursday leading in to their Term 3 exams. We wish the cohort all the very best as they prepare for this very important assessment period.

I would also like to wish the 1st V Basketball and 1st XV Rugby Teams all the best for this weekend. They both take on Nudgee College in a Championship race for in both codes. The School is extremely proud of the way these two teams have conducted themselves this year on and off the field and the leadership they have shown under captains Hudson Kaddatz (Basketball) and Max Dowd (Rugby). Please note all boys are to wear Chapel Dress for the Nudgee round and team photos will also occur this Saturday and the sports website will have all the details of the schedules.

Next week is National Child Protection Week for 2017 and the school will be focussing on this during Chapel and Mentor to continue to work to make TSS the safest it has ever been.
