Crossing the Bridge: Resilience, Honesty, Grit and Relationships
Over the last two weeks at the Senior School we have witnessed examples where our boys have experienced and connected with life long lessons outside the classroom.
Mr Sten accompanied by senior staff were able to set up an invaluable Year 11 (2023) Camp where boys visited Numinbah Valley and explored themes such as resilience, grit and honesty. Our boys hosted two soiree nights where Numinbah local ladies and TSS corporate staff enjoyed being hosted by these boys with music, entertainment and dinner.
During this week the following activities were held at the Senior Campus and provided more opportunities for our senior students:
Dr Zagoren and Mrs Ireland – Teen Mental Health First Aid Course
Mr Oneto and Mr Papworth – Belonging, Culture and purpose at school
Mr Bos and Mr Fowler – Relationships
We were also supported by Tom Herschell and the ‘Find ya feet’ program. Tom presented his second workshop for the boys at both TSS and Numinbah Valley.
TSS and St Hilda’s: Attitude, Resilience and Confidence to lead
On Tuesday night Our Year 11 and 12 boarders hosted over 60 St Hilda’s boarders on campus where they shared a meal in the Dining Hall and participated in a workshop with Mr Seamus Evans. His presentation focused on how our Year 11 and 12 girls and boys should be aware and conscious of their current identity, self-confidence and attitude before they start leading others. Mr Evans was able to give the students practical examples on how to build a positive attitude, resilience and confidence everyday at their school. This opportunity also gave our boys a chance to hold conversation with St Hilda’s students many who they did not know before and engage on a variety of topics and discussion.
These lessons and experiences provide our young men with a moral compass that can navigate their way through life’s challenges and celebrations.
