Health Centre

Mrs Liz Cookson-Butler – Health Centre Nurse

The TSS Health Centre provides nursing care for all our boarding boys 24 hours a day. Our team comprises of 5 registered nurses, which allows for the Health centre to be open for students to visit every day of the week at the following times:

  • Monday – Friday: 7:30 am to 7:30 pm
  • Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 am to 7:00pm

Sally our resident nurse is on call every evening outside these hours to provide any emergency care for the boarders.

We are extremely fortunate to have two doctors from Bundall Medical centre come and treat the boys at school.  They hold clinics at lunch time from Monday to Thursday and the boys are booked in as needs dictate.

Physio Fit also provide physiotherapy treatment in the Health centre on Tuesday and Thursday after school. Whilst Ferry road physio attend on a Wednesday. If appointments are required outside these times, we will endeavour to get a parent volunteer driver or a taxi to take them.

Student counselling services are available in the Health Centre with Stacey Pratt. Stacey is a qualified School based youth health nurse and will happily see boys in the health centre.

Orthodontic appointments can be organised with the orthodontist of your choice. A point to maybe consider is that Gullotta and Medland provide a free transport service to and from their appointments. This can be very handy for all the emergency appointment that arise with broken brackets, bent wires and other issues. We can also arrange a dentist for you with a multitude of local dentist in the area.

If there are any other medical issues you need to arrange or would like us to sort out please don’t hesitate to ask and we will do what we can. We do try to use local services as it’s easier to get the boys to the appointment with the transport we have.  Appointments are generally made during school hours as transport after school can be an issue and we are often reliant on Taxis.
