Marketing and Events Guidelines

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Visitors

The Southport School’s goal is to reduce the number of people on campus—including visitors—in order to slow the potential transmission of the virus and protect vulnerable populations from exposure. All members of the TSS community, on and off campus, are asked to help in this effort. For the safety of our students and staff on campus, and to limit the number of visitors to the school, we ask that parents contact the School via email or phone rather than visiting the school’s Prep or Senior Reception areas or Student Services.

Effective until further notice:

  • Events with speakers invited from off campus—whether the speakers are international or domestic—will be cancelled, postponed, or conducted remotely.
  • All public and private tours of The Southport School are discontinued.
  • These guidelines can change quickly, and we will adapt as required.

Students

Viruses that cause illness can spread from infected people by droplet transferal to others through the air and close personal contact. This can happen when you shake hands with someone who has a cold, or touch a surface, like a doorknob, that has respiratory viruses on it, then touch your eyes, mouth, or nose.

You can help reduce your risk of getting the flu:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitiser. Viruses that cause colds can live on your hands, and regular handwashing can help protect you from getting sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay away from people who are sick.
  • Don’t share water bottles, glasses or eating utensils.
  • Practice other good health habits. Get plenty of sleep, be physically active, manage your stress, drink plenty of fluids, and eat nutritious food.

Parents

Our goal is to reduce the number of people on campus—including parents—in order to slow the potential transmission of the virus and protect vulnerable populations from exposure. All members of the TSS community are asked to help in this effort.

If you are planning on attending an event or meeting at TSS, please remember this is an evolving situation. We may need to reschedule or cancel at the last minute and contingency plans such as phone conferencing or skype meetings.
