From the House Captain, Reilly writes:
This term has been an interesting one with events such as House Drama, Formal and playing on the new pool table. The House is in a fantastic state with everyone getting along with each other. Although we are not performing very well in the House Shield, McKinley could not be in a better place. The seniors are really putting in effort and, from my point of view, making it easier for the staff to operate. Nearly everyone has been involved in some form of House activity this term from House Drama, Cross Country, Football, Volleyball and Declamations. It has been a very interrupted term with these activities but we have all managed to keep our studies at an acceptable level. I look forward to next term where we can start afresh if need be and set new goals. It is another big term next term with QCS, Rugby, Basketball and more so be prepared.
From the Housemaster…
The front room has been completely transformed as the below picture demonstrates. This room is a meeting room for parents and staff as well as a private space for boys to work and study. The next time you are in McKinley, please ensure to come in and a have a look. The history of the House on the wallpaper is amazing.
The last fortnight has seen the boys busily preparing for exams and completing assignments. The House has had a quiet, calm and studious feel as the assessment heated up. Our senior boys set a great tone with regard to study culture this term – thanks boys. The pool table continues to be the most used table in living history with a game always seemingly being played. I must add that there has not been one altercation during the 1000 games over the past month – testament to the culture and tone of the House. Tidy dorm lads received their sushi dinner with Mr Alini this week which was enjoyed, while the formal dinner was a memorable night for the entire House. The ongoing trips to emergency wards are heating up as the basketball and rugby seasons kick in, but the overall spirit and tone of the House is exceptionally happy. In my nearly two decades in boarding, McKinley House has a wonderfully supportive and happy tone to it – something that all House staff are very proud of.

Congratulations to Hamish King for receiving his representative blazer for his full season in the 1st XI Football side.
Just a reminder for Term 3, no heaters are allowed in the boarding house due to fire risk and we have also noticed a decline in grey socks, could everyone please check they have a supply of short grey socks for Term 3. Due to the wet weather, a weatherproof jacket would be a valuable asset to travel between classes. But we do have a grey sock issue in McKinley- GREY socks everyone!
We will be reading all reports with interest, particularly those boys who we believe need to lift their attitude and diligence to their studies. Please make direct contact with us should you wish to discuss your sons report during the break, ensuring we are collectively working on the same page for Term 3.
Have an enjoyable and restful break with your boys.
