Mr Tony Watt | McKinley Housemaster
The Alini family and McKinley House are delighted to have an increased feminine influence in the form of Lucinda Mai Alini who was brought home to the Assistant Housemaster’s residence on Tuesday the 8th of August at only two days old. After a brief acclimatization period, where the boys were only aware that she was there through the occasional cry and Matron’s liberal use of pink balloons around the house, she was brought out to meet the boys at morning tea.
Mr and Mrs Alini are honestly impressed by the sheer volume of McKinley house’s best wishes and by the boys’ consideration in trying to keep noise down. I think it was on day two that Reilly Gall was heard to ask the boys to “quieten down for Lucinda’s sake” – as great an example of the character of the fine young men we have here in McKinley as you will ever find.
The last few weeks have been busy with Grade 12’s handing in assignments, preparing for exams and QCS. GPS Rugby and Basketball has been very exciting with everyone getting involved. There have been some good wins and also the odd 70-0 loss in the younger grades. Don’t worry boys, I remember when I lost 98-0 to Nudgee in 13D’s – It gets better, I promise.
House Track and Field is coming up on Monday. The 3000m happened at school today (Wednesday) in which Ben Gibson won for McKinley. We are already winning and this puts us in a good place. McKinley usually goes well in Track and Field and with Ben Gibson, Jock Thompson, Ben Kinivan, Tyrone Honeysett, Stirling Smith, Tom Kelly and others, we are looking good for this year.
Not long until exams and the end of the term now so lets finish hard boys.
