The Annand Theatre Performing Arts Festival is nearly here!

Only two and a half weeks to go before we set off on a four day TSS performing arts extravaganza!

Between  Saturday May 29 and Tuesday June 1, the TSS community will be able to experience a number of exciting performing arts events that will include music concerts, visits from expert clinicians, workshops, and plays. Here is what will be on offer:

Saturday May 29: An evening with ‘The Idea of North’. We are very excited to host this amazing vocal group who will stun you with their ability to sound like instrumentalists through the use of just their voices. The group will be accompanied in one their songs by choir members from TSS and other Gold Coast schools. Dont miss this very special musical experience! Tickets are available through the flyer found in this newsletter

Meantime, enjoy this small video of one of their works: The Idea of North

Sunday May 30: This day will be a day of workshops for boys involved in our bands and string orchestras. We are very pleased that we have two leading educators in string and concert band ensembles visiting TSS to work with the TSS ‘Musos’. A small concert will be held at 1.00pm to demonstrate some of the work they have completed.

Monday May 31: Is a day of great Drama! The Acting Head of Drama, Mr Alex Fowler has planned an exciting day of workshops that will conclude with two plays in the evening. Mr Fowler will provide more detail closer to the date.

Tuesday June 1: The final day of the festival will be jam packed with daytime workshops provided by TSS old boys who are now working in the music and music theatre industries. There will be a great lunchtime performance by old boy James Vincent who has recently returned from the USA and Europe. James is a well respected musician who has built a formidable reputation as a leading writer and performer of acoustic and digital music.

The evening will conclude with a great school concert that features our main groups and a grand finale  over over 150 choir members and old boy soloists performing music from Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ imortal ‘Phantom of the Opera’. This is definitely a concert not to miss. Further details can be found in the flyer attached to this edition of the newsletter.

We do hope you can join us for these special Performing Arts events designed to celebrate our beautiful new Annand Theatre.
