By Rob Cooke – Director of Music
Term 4 is passing at an astonishing rate, which is a true indicator that the School is once again a hive of great activity. The Music department has already had two major events this term along musical support for the Cadet Tri-service parade
HJ King Music scholars concert
Last Tuesday, our music scholars presented a very interesting programme of music that displayed the many different talents of this group. I would like to thank the boys for their work and the parents who came and supported them in this concert.
Big Band Lunch
The annual Big Band lunch took place last Friday at the Southport Golf Club and once again proved to be a magnificent event that showcased the fine young musicians of this group. Over 100 people attend and were treated to great hospitality, great music and just as importantly, great friendship. This is a wonderful opportunity for the boys to perform in a ‘real world’ setting and experience a large and appreciative audience. I would like to thank the President of the Friends of Music, AJ Kanemura and her team for the tireless and expert preparation and promotion of the event. We certainly look forward to next years’ Big Band lunch.
