Its been a very busy start to the term with the Reader’s Cup Competition, Reading Challenge nearing its finishing date. The lessons were aimed at developing research and inquiry skills, sharing of short listed titles and activities plus stories relating to the Escape to Everywhere theme. Also Year 5 have been sharing books with Preschool S on Wednesday morning.
This year’s theme is: Escape to Everywhere.
We seek escape in our lives: we take holidays, we escape through games, sport, films, books and other ways to distance us from normal lives. We seek to lose ourselves, to escape ourselves. Reading is surely one of the most accessible means of escape it can transport, entertain and educate us” Zart Art, Escape to Everywhere
We will be holding a Book Week Parade on Monday, August 21. Reception –Year 2 will be at 9am, followed by Years 3-6 at 11.45am.
Boys are invited to dress as a book character for the day.

Congratulations to all boys who participated in the Reader’s Cup at St Hilda’s last week, 11 teams in all. Finn Allman, Ryan Mahon, Darcy Young and Zeke Kelly won the combined cup for the first time, great effort boys.
We will participate in the Great Indigenous Book Swap again in September this year. More details later but start gathering books to swap and $1s to donate for a swap.
