The bookmakers had GT hot favourites coming off a couple big wins in previous week, and they didn’t expect our developing side to worry them at all. This week the punters were wrong. TSS played well above their previous form to go into half time down 7 – 12. Boys like Gatenby, Gleason, Rameau, Grasso led the way with some terrific running and support play. While the scrum was solid, the lineout is a bit messy and our backs struggled a bit to gain clean ball, but on many occasion the team was still on the way forward, and scored a try in both halves, to Emerson Rameau, and Broc Nicholls.
The second half Dan Statham and Sid Bradnam started running, setting up the likes of Keahn Skipps for many ground making runs. Jacob Sa also contributed with his strong forays into GT defence. Final score was no reflection of the intensity of the game or how well TSS played. If not for a last minute try on our line, GT would have had their first lost this season.
Training is compulsory on Wednesday, with Monday’s session being optional but it is preferred by the coaches that those players that can attend do so as it’s a skills base session.
Tries: Rameau, Nicholls; Conversion: Statham and Skipps
Player of the match: Will Gatenby.
After a slow start in the first half, the TSS side went into the break even on the scoreboard against a much larger GT. But after some inspirational words from the two young coaches, it did seem from there the TSS side lifted and held the pressure, and went on to dominate their opposition. An big hearted effort this week went to Max Schutt who was all over the park. He played like a boy possessed, and setup many of the trues scored. Tries to Steinfort, Watson, Bousgas & Sargood, helped this team to their third win this year. An outstanding effort…
Best & Fairest this week – Max Schutt.
The U12 C team struggled on Saturday against an opposition who utilized the ruck ball to good effect. The back line made the most of the ball they received with notable runs from Ryan McMahon and Bryce Frolich. A surge in the second half started by Martin Price resulted and joined by the whole forward pack resulted in a try to Finn Byrne under the posts. Final Score GT 34 – TSS 5. The coaches will work on defence and some attack week prior to meeting BGS next weekend.
Man of the Match: Bryce Frolich
What a difference a week makes! A much improved effort against Gregory Terrace. The boys played well, working on our goals of tackling, running straight, securing our ball and having fun. Everyone had a part to play and I want to thank the boys from the B’s who were there and contributed after we suffered a few injuries. Special mention to Will Cox who scored a great try with straight running and pace! Well done. Back to training again this week, working on the simple things to help us improve.
A tough match against Gregory Terrace! They had size and speed on their side but we had perseverance and tenacity. Special mention to Jackson Gennari who tackled hard and Cash Milligan who communicated well as captain. Also, Ethan Faber who sprinted down the line with speed but after getting tackled before the try line got a well deserved try with the support and determination of the team to push him over. Working on speed, tackling low and running straight will continue to be a focus on Wednesday.
