Prep Sport

Mr Robert Egan – Prep Sportsmaster

We find ourselves a quarter of the way through Term 1. A very productive week of sport began with our co-curricular clubs kicking off for the term. Our new gymnastics program started on Wednesday afternoon, in our new Prep hall with 60 plus budding gymnasts taking part in the fun and skills program. Thank you to our Director of Golf, Grant Garrison, for his work with our Year 5 & 6 boys during HPE lessons last week. The boys certainly enjoyed the challenge of a new sport. Our first core skills rugby sessions went down well on Tuesday and Wednesday with  our boys, having 45 minutes of none stop rugby action, plenty more to come throughout February. The GPS Cricketers and Junior Footballers followed, filling the oval on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon. A wet Friday saw the postponement of our swim carnival new date Friday 9th Feb, however a little rain on Saturday morning wasn’t going to stop play, as our cricketers, over 70  year 5&6 boys, played in a T20 match gracing the oval for the first time this year.

We are very impressed with our boys resilience over the past few days, they showed a real grit and toughness battling the weather over the weekend.

Remember it’s not about perfection. It’s about being persistent and resilient, because your desire to succeed and enjoy life is too strong to settle for anything less.

  • Year 3-6 boys will be excited to hear they do not have to wait long for their rearranged Swim Carnival, which will take place on the February 9.
  • Round 3 of GPS Cricket this week is against TGC.
  • Junior Rugby and Football are both gathering pace, with season kick-off imminent.
