Prep Sport

Mr Robert Egan – Prep Sportsmaster

Week 2 of Term 4 and our sporting program is already well under way.

The prep hall project is moving forward at a rate of knots, our basketball fans will be pleased to hear that 6 basketball hoops have already been installed. I’m excited to say that one of the next stages of the hall build is the permanent seating, get in quickly if you’d like to reserve a family plaque on one of the grandstand seats.  Our oval redevelopment is running smoothly, with a spot of rain helping bed in the new grass and rejuvenate the area. Along with the completion of the stone grandstand below our new carpark, I’m sure you will all agree, we have a lot to look forward to next year.

This terms sports celebrations gone underway early, with our GPS athletics team hosting a warm up meet on Friday evening. St Hildas, Gregory Terrace and Emmanuel College were all in attendance, seeing a plethora of athletes from years 5 – 12 complete throughout the evening, across the spectrum of events at Griffith University athletics stadium. This event  ended the weekend with the GPS Golf championships, were the TSS Prep Team came home winners of the 2017 Junior Championships, well done to all boys (Full Report Below).

Golf QIGA Championships

With a 90 player field in the 4th and final event, it was TSS that made a change upsetting The Hills College to win the 2017 Junior Championship.

The last time the Junior Team won was in 2011, the trophy now returns to our Hall of Fame.  In addition, Eshan Singh won the juniors individual honours over the 4 – 18 hole rounds.  This is a remarkable feat as its the youngest player to ever win in the 21 history of the Queensland Intercollegiate Golf Associations.  Congratulations to Nicky Hayes, Max Carr, and Jiaomo Hu who represented the Junior Golf Team.

A big welcome to Ethan Melton and Hunter Potts who played in their first QIGA event with fine rounds, the future of TSS golf is very strong.

If anyone would like to join the golf team in 2018, please contact Director Grant Garrison for details at 0421 287 826.
