Mr Andrew Stark – Head of Libraries
With the success of last week’s TSS and St Hilda’s Philosophy and Book Club meeting it has been decided to hold another meeting on Monday 12 June at St Hilda’s. All boys are welcome. Those attending will depart TSS at 3.45pm and return at approximately 6.15pm.
As we approach the mid-way point of Term Two and assessments are looming, now is a good time to remind boys of the excellent online resources available to them to assist them in their preparation.
Facts on File database is an excellent source for all subjects and most year levels. It is very user-friendly and is particularly valuable for boys in Years 7 to 10.
The database JSTOR is particularly well suited to boys in Years 11 and 12 and for graduate/post-graduate studies.
ELibrary is an excellent source for boys from Years 9 to 12 as this database hosts a very extensive collection of newspaper articles and other resources. Informit TV News is also worth highlighting – it is an archive of all free-to-air news and current affairs programs broadcast in Australia since 2006.
Parents will also be interested in the online Study Skills Handbook which gives students and parents advice on time management, preparing for assessment items and making the most of the school experience.
