Readers are Leaders

Mr Andrew Stark – Head of Libraries

Now that the boys have settled into their new year levels and subjects, this is a good time to remind them about (or introduce them to) some of the excellent online resources available through the Senior Library website.

The most popular resources we have include: Facts on File (excellent for all subjects and most year levels), ELibrary (a very extensive collection of newspaper articles and other resources), Echo Contemporary Issues (an excellent resource that focuses on controversial issues and provides extensive arguments both for and against), and Informit TV News (an archive of free-to-air television news and current affairs programs that extends as far back as 2006). Several classes have already booked a time for a personalised tour of the databases.

Another very important database is the online Study Skills Handbook which gives advice to students, parents and teachers on time management and preparing for assessment items. To access it go to www.studyskillshandbook.com.au login details are available from library staff. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me for further information.

A reminder to parents and boys of the audio and eBook collection that is available through Borrow Box. To access the full collection of nearly 600 titles, boys can either download the green Borrow Box App from the App Store, or follow the link on the Senior Library webpage.

Happy reading, listening and researching!
