Readers are Leaders

Mr Andrew Stark – Head of Libraries

It has been a very busy start to the year and the boys are well and truly back into the swing of things!

Boys are reminded that the first TSS and St Hilda’s Philosophy and Reading Club meeting will be held at St Hilda’s on Wednesday 14 February. Boys are asked to let Mr Stark know if they will be attending. We will depart TSS at 3.40pm and return at around 6.30pm. Boys from Years 9 to 12 are welcome to participate.

What to know how to develop good learning habits? Here’s what boys can do:

  1. ENGAGE: be an active participant in your own learning and take responsibility for what you need to do to achieve your academic best.
  1. ORGANISE: Being organised means you can find things when you need to, you do not forget about work to be done and you do not have last minute panics.
  1. THINK AHEAD: Part of ‘stepping up’ is that you do not just wait for someone to tell you to do something. You think ahead and work strategically.
  1. STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE: You want to be able to differentiate yourself from the other students, so think what you can do to make your work stand out from the crowd.
  1. STUDY SMART: Do more than stare into your textbook or look over your class notes.

You can learn more about how to be an effective student at by logging in with the details below and working through some of the units:
