Mr Andrew Stark – Head of Libraries
This week we welcomed a large group of St Hilda’s girls to the Term Two TSS and St Hilda’s Philosophy Club meeting. The topic for this term’s meeting was ‘Conformity’ and the group presented and discussed some very interesting aspects of both the ‘social’ and ‘human’ conditions in relation to conforming to social and human expectations.
While the discussion considered and reflected up the notions of peer pressure and blindly following trends and fads, the students also reflected and considered references to the need for society to have rules and structures in place so that communities can remain stable and safe.
Thank you to the 20 girls and 16 boys who joined us on the day – the great discussion was supported by great catering!
This week, we also extend a very warm welcome to the newest addition to the library collection … the very special ‘Blue Cloud’. Boys have know about the Blue Cloud for quite some time but now they have met it in ‘person’.
The Blue Cloud is a permanent reminder to the boys that the very best resources they can find are available via the Student Portal and the Blue Cloud. Clicking on the blue cloud icon in Student Portal will take students directly to the extensive collection of excellent online resources. For more information, please contact library staff.
As the saying goes … ‘Don’t be proud. Click on the Blue Cloud.’
