Mr Andrew Stark – Head of Libraries
The New Library Opens… this week, after a ‘soft opening’ in Week One, the new library facilities opened for general access. In the first three days, approximately 390 students passed through the sleek sliding doors to inspect their new learning spaces.
The new library has up to seven separate bookable spaces for a variety of learning and teaching requirements. The ground level amphitheatre will house a whole class, as will the booth area under the glass roof, with the Blue and Red rooms offering presentation and meeting spaces for up to 20 students and staff.
The upper level Reading Room has generated the most excitement! This huge area will comfortably fit in two classes; one in the leather sofas and chairs, with another using the desks and boardroom table.
We still have a few more projects to finalise before the building is absolutely finished and these will be completed in coming weeks.
This week we have been very fortunate to have been selected to host a traveling exhibition celebrating 500 years since the Reformation. The exhibition includes documents and artefacts dating back as far as the early 15th Century. This is a fascinating collection and several Life and Faith classes have visited during the week.
Thank you to the entire TSS Community for your patience and flexibility during the lengthy building process. We’re confident you will be very happy with the end result. If you would like a tour of the new library please feel free to drop by anytime.
