Preparing for a new era and library experience

Andrew Stark | Head of Libraries and ADLT Professional Learning

The Southport School Senior Library refurbishment is almost complete and the boys are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to enter this magnificent space for the first time.

Commencing in September 2016, the major refurbishment of the Harley Stumm Library saw TSS Library Services move to two different venues – N1 and the Memorial Room. N1 held the textbook collection while the Memorial Room (which housed the School’s very first library) held the fiction collection.

Library staff have enjoyed working in these two spaces… but are now ready to return to our original home.

The last two weeks of Term Three will see the finishing touches being made to the internal and external library spaces and the new furniture and equipment will be delivered and installed. We anticipate being ‘open for business’ to the whole school community from Wednesday, October 4.

The final piece to the new Academic Precinct jigsaw is the lecture theatre. We look forward to accessing and making good use of this equally impressive space later in the year.

Thank you boys, parents, staff and members of the community for your patience during the inconveniences of the building and refurbishing process. It will all be worth it in the end!

Here are some photos taken along the way… wait for the surprise reveal next term!
