Book Week Parade

On Monday, two very impressive parades of book characters made their way through the school grounds. Thank you to the boys, staff and parents who supported the Book Week activity.

CBCA winning titles were:

Picture Book of the Year: Home in the Rain, Bob Graham

Book of the Year: Younger Readers: Rockhopping, Trace Balla

Book of the Year: Early Childhood: Go Home, Cheeky Animals, Joanna Bell

Eve Pownall Award for Information Books: Amazing Animals of Australia’s National Parks, Gina Newton

Author Visit

Andrew King, author, engineer and teacher work-shopped years 1 and 2 last week. Andrew shared his Engibear and Engilina stories and then helped the boys make fidget spinners, design train carriages and allowed them to experiment with magnets.

The Great Indigenous Book Swap, will be held during week 9, Sept 4th-8th. Boys are able to bring in a book they wish to swap, donate $1 and swap their book for another donated book. Money raised will be used by The Indigenous Literacy Foundation to purchase books for isolated Indigenous Communities. Last year we raised $500 so I would be keen to pass this amount in 2017.
