Mr Jackson Elliott, Acting Rogers Housemaster
I trust this final bulletin of 2021 finds you well. It has been an incredibly fast term and we have been blessed with amazing weather on the Gold Coast. This has enabled the boys to partake in several water-based activities on the weekends. Between Evandale Lake, the pool, Currumbin trips and the surf bus, we have been fortunate to get off campus and in the water every weekend.
Last weekend saw the boys spend Sunday morning in Brisbane with St Margaret’s, and Saturday night with St Hilda’s at Year 7 – 9 socials. We certainly have some tired boys in the house this week and we will ensure plenty of rest in the lead up to assessments later this week.
Towards the end of this week, our assessment period will commence. This is the first Year 8 assessment block. You would also be aware that Parent Teacher Interviews are on Thursday evening this week. They are online again, which should be more convenient for our families from regional areas.
It has been wonderful to see so many of our boys involved in preseason rowing and cricket the past few weeks. Reports from the rowing shed are that the Rogers boys are leading the charge on and off the water. Mr Browne has stated on many occasions how proud he is of them when coaching on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
This week the boys have spent 2 nights in their senior houses, an invaluable opportunity to assist with a positive start to 2022. It was great to hear some of the Delpratt boys reciting the war cry as I walked past after breakfast this morning.
Finally, a few date reminders. On Wednesday the 24th of November, we have our Rogers House presentation night. We will commence with drinks at 4.30pm in the River Room. You are welcome to take your son home at the conclusion of the evening, although the final day of Term is the following day.
Thanks for all your support over the year, particularly this term as I navigate through the transition process into Housemaster of Rogers.
As always, if you have any question or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
