What a week in TSS Rowing!

The year is beginning to wrap up very quickly. The Rowing Shed has been so busy with the new and highly successful breakfast initiative which can now comfortably extended into Term One  next year. Thank you so much for everyone’s participation in the Legends Luncheon with over $50 000 raised. The day was so much fun and is a testament to all the hard work from the committee. In particular, a special mention must go to Leonie Vincent for her tireless efforts and integral role in making the afternoon not only enjoyable, but truly memorable. A huge thank you also to all who sponsored, donated, bought raffle tickets, bid on auction items and attended the lunch.

Crew Selections

The training day at Wyaralong, last Saturday 13th November, was unfortunately disrupted by very windy weather. Many of the boys braved out the rough waters but the session was eventually cancelled due to unsafe conditions. Rowers, coaches and parents adjourned to the BBQ’s for a quick breakfast and then returned home. Thank you to all the helpers who were rewarded with Dean’s coffee.

A lot more sophisticated now at the dam.

Final selections have now been completed as we lead into the end of term and also the camp.

Parents and rowers have now been notified via email if their son has been invited to attend camp and all of the information as well as payment options are available online through Parent Lounge.

Please note that final selections for the Year 11 1st VIII and the Open 1st VIII are still being finalised, with the fine-tuning of crews happening this Sunday 21st November at Wyaralong.

Camp – Next Friday 26th November to Thursday 2nd December

All rowers (and their parents) who have been invited to attend the Noosa camp next week have been notified via email. Camp details, what to bring and payment options are all available on Parent Lounge.

The following crews are to attend camp:

Open 1st, 2nd and 3rd VIII’s

Year 11 1st, 2nd and 3rd VIII’s

Year 10 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Quads

In addition to the camp above, some crews will be invited to attend a Regatta on Saturday 4th December. Please check emails early next week for further details.

TSS House Rowing Regatta – Monday 22nd November

This Monday afternoon, there will be a mini–House Regatta held on the Nerang River in front of the river ovals. All parents and supporters are welcome and encouraged to come down, watch and support the boys.
The plan is to have a junior regatta, made up of year 8’s in their House crews and a Senior Regatta with 1 crew from each House in a quad. The senior Quad will be made up of one rower from each year group (Yr 12, Yr 11, Yr 10 and Yr 9, if a House does not have a year level representative, they can have 2 rowers from the year level below). This will be wonderful opportunity to have the whole shed together from year 8 to Opens.  There will be 4 heats (3 crews per heat), with winners going to A final, 2nd place going to B Final and 3rd place going to C Final. Crews will be awarded points based on their place (1st to 4th in A Final, 5th to 8th in B Final and 9th to 12th in C Final).
The House with the most points will win the ‘House Challenge Shield’.
